But pour your love out
as if with a drunkard’s hand
working his way down
the length of the bar.
Don’t measure it!
Don’t measure it!

Measured love is like the punishment
that too exactly fits the crime.
Spend it! Spend it
unwisely! Love is not a thing
to be wise about. Let investors
be wise and nickel and dime
their way through life.
Be profligate!
Be profligate!

The prudent lover is the miser
reading his balance sheet
in a cupboard by the light
of a single, dim, overhanging bulb.

Ha, very beautiful. Just sent you a sort-of long e-mail about...epistemology I guess :) but I am going to sleep now, so I will catch you later today.

I keep coming back to this. I think it's my favorite! Such an interesting way to look at it.

You may indeed have a profound point.

"May," sir? May? Did not your Saviour say: "Let your yea be yea and your nay be nay"?

I love hearing that, especially from you. More than some of my others it's one that was written with the full weight of my heart and soul.

Nice poem, though don't know if I agree with hedonistic undertones. (--: Still, well written and all that.

Still expecting a letter from your dark sister, oh stoic one!
