China in Animal Farm

Has modern China a place in Animal Farm? Please comment.

Fair question.

I hope this doesn't contravene the ban on politics, but I think we could call it simple hypothesising rather than politics, because the answer is a clear "no".

You could certainly make a very good case to link AF with Mao, but nowadays, the only common denominator is a totalitarian government. China has improved the lifestyle of all of its people beyond all recognition in the past few decades, which is the exact opposite of what the regime did in AF.

And, in terms of "modern China", it's merely the evolution of Mao's rule, there was no reviolution which resulted in the current crowd running it.

I reckon I could put a case that China today is resembling Winston's world, from 1984, but that would certainly involve current politics!
