Hi all! I'm going to Spain for my holidays in 2 days to visit my grandparents, unfortunately my grandmother has fallen ill.
I have visited there once before, but felt so helpless when I didn't know how to do the most basic things like ask where the bathroom was or order drinks.
Just asking, for anyone out there who knows some spanish, what some of the basic expressions and greetings are that you reccomend I know?
Also, I wanted to discuss Spain for anyone who has been/lived there or who has studied Spain and/or spanish culture.

This (http://www.lingolex.com/Expresen.htm) and this (http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Transwiki:List_of_Spanish_expressions_in_common_En glish) should get you started.

I actually went to a restuarant and ordered all parts for the meal, as well as asking for the check, for myself and my grandpa successfully! :D Knowledge truly is power.

I went to Malaga, on the Costa del Sol.Barcelona and Madrid sound wonderful! The Costa del Sol didn't have many cultural attractions, mainly just a lot of tourists. I can imagine Barcelona and Madrid offer a much richer experience.

Yes, both cities are wonderful, for their architecture (i have taken at least 100 pictures of buildings ;) ) and their museums full of significant and really beautiful paintings. I enjoyed the Picasso museum in Barcelona and "El Prado" and "Reina Sofia" in Madrid ;) .

Oh they did have a wonderful Picasso museum in Malaga! I'm sure the ones in Madrid and Barcelona were better though.

Hi drama!
I read your post and found out you've been to Malaga, where I spent 3 weeks in the month of July...well, actually I lived in Benalmadena, which is very close to Malaga anyway!
It was a studying holiday (I attended Spanish classes in the morning and in the afternoon and evening I had to go through the activities decided by the school!), therefore I went a little sightseeing and visited the Picasso's house-museum you talked about..ah, we have been to Cordoba, Sevilla and Granada too!
Have you been to Benalmadena?

Oh, what a lovely experience! I have been to Granada, there was some amazing shopping and Alhambra was amazing.
Yes! We had dinner by the port at Benalmadena, it was so nice.
