Ok I have only 2 minutes left to explain this, so... What would you put in a graphic book about RED???
I'm doing a bloody course of books graphic at Uni (compulosry of course, cos I'm the least graphic person in the universe, I'd never do that if I wadnt obliged), and we have to project a book about the colour RED (not text, just images, or anyway the text must be visual somehow). First of all, I HATE red, so I'd do it all in purple... :D And anyway, I have not the slightest idea... Any one of you is a bit more inclined to graphic things than me? :(
I also need it to be a quick help cos I need to have the basic project by Friday...and now it's Wednesday evening! I even doubt I'll be able to check the forum in the next 24 hours so it might be useless to ask here (by that time I hope I'll have at least a clue, especially cos tomorrow I'm meeting up with a friend of Uni to try and unite our brains on this), but I'm desperate...:D

I was thinking of stuff like the word 'red' in poems illustrated with a pic, but i cant think of any... or cd covers where red is important, but I'd need to link them somehow... Or just damn red flowers pretending I'm into gardening... Or giving up but I'm not going to do the whole course over again next year....

This is probably not the kind of info. you want, however:
1) The colour red is light with a wavelength of around 680nm.
2) All red objects reflect light of this wavelength, and absorb light of all other wavelengths.
3) This longer wavelength(compared to that of blue/green) allows red light to refract more- hence red is at the top of rainbows.

I think your first idea could be really interesting. It might be hard to find a pome about red, but perhaps you can try and search for poems about things that are red. Roses are obvious I guess.

Blake writes alot about roses, Donne does as well.

Example by Blake

The sick rose

O Rose, thou art sick!
The invisible worm,
That flies in the night,
In the howling storm,

Has found out thy bed
Of crimson joy;
And his dark secret love
Does thy life destroy.

Thought that poem might be in your taste.

William Carlos Williams wrote a poem about a red wheelbarrow.

Perhaps you could use photoshop and add quotes to pictures, or scramble poems and only take out the pieces about red and then adding pictures?

Found a site that might be a little helpful. I mean the list of things associated with 'red'. Guess it's worth a try. Almost fall off a chair laughing after reading 'Robert Redford' there. Not sure why now, even though it might be the fact that there's 'stop sign' preceding Robert Redford :p.

Infact it's not, but thanks anyway, that would be funny if I didn't hate physics ;) :) :D

Isagel, your post was really wonderful, so was Jay's, but...
...while I was walking to my friend's house I had an idea: red places.... Pictures of red places. The only ideas I've had by now are the Red Square in Moscow, and red tulips in Holland...plus maybe a sunset ...and Mars :D If any of you thinks of more, let me know... I found out I have to do it by Saturday, not Friday.
It might be not the greatest of ideas, but at least the pictures are not hard to find. I would have loved the poetry thing but there's really no way I'm going to find enough poems and put them together nicely in such a short time...

Thanks for your thoughts anyway :)
