could we make a topic called crash courses, it would have basic stuff like cooking in it that a person who is 16 can cook, simple instructions on how to play music, draw, program a DVD player, and the like

sounds good to me, I'm a wonderful cook - if I do say so myself, but I can't program a dvd player or even set the alarm clock.

that would be a good idea, i've been eating ramen for three weeks since that's the only thing i'm sure i can cook!

The litnet should have courses of: cooking, music, art and above all, languages.

What, Itunes is easy, you just download Limewire first!

Yeah, I've done that. I mean, I have it set up on the house computer, so thats where I go to set up my music and upload. But I just wish I could do it on mine. It sucks.

Itunes is really temperamental. It is paranoid about everything and hates non-Itunes file types as well as complicated music storage.

Anyone know how to put movies that YOU own onto itunes, so you don't have to buy them?

This is what I have to offer, if I can help anyone, I would love to.
I have played guitar for 30 years and taught for about 10 off and on.
I am a graduate of Western Culinary Institute, but don't cook for a living.
I have run my own business for the last 12 years.

Its my grandmas recipe...I've only done it a couple of times...but it came out decent. I'll have to ask...its like a family secret type thing. Its not really baked...you kind of steam it or something on a grill....if she says its cool I'll PM it to you.

Yeah, I'll check in with my Grandma tommorrow...she will probably say yes...but I would feel bad if I just handed it out...its been going on for generations apparently. My family is kind of like those that are big on traditions...etc.

Get a cheep tuner and some new strings.
learn triad chords in major, minor, dominant 5th and minor 7th flat 5
learn your major scales in the 5 positions.
good way to learn is play songs you like or else if you have a really good work ethic just apply your self to the above.

i just got this guitar as payment from one of my dad's friends to my dad and my dad already has a guitar so i play this one, the guitar doesn't really sound flat, i just am having a lot of trouble learning how to play, the book doesn't explain it to me very well

Have you ever heard of tabs?? Well, they are good if you just want to learn how to play songs...mxtabs.net
The numbers correspond with the fret and it goes from lowest string going up to the highest. Its fun just to mess around with...other than that, you just have to stick through...I started out learning the notes and then putting them together into chords...etc. Patience.;)

Sometimes books can be a waste of money. What style do you most want to play? Rythmn or lead?

There's so much free stuff on the web if you know what you are looking for. But start with the triads I mentioned. tabs are a good suggestion and chord picture books. Although they can be overwheming, some of them have hundereds of chords. Triads are what is called a moveable chord. Which just means that the chord shape stays the same but you can move it to create a new chord. Example; move a C major triad two frets up and it becomes a D major triad. Triad is just a fancy name for a 3 note chord. Here's a great free site for learning chords for guitar.

I have a bass guitar I am trying to teach myself how to play. I bought Bass Guitar for dummies a couple of weeks ago and it is helping quite a lot. It is written by Patrick Pfeiffer, and has a recomendation from Adam Clayton of U2. The good part about it is it comes with a cd I can listen to while playing to see if I am doing it correctly.
