Really, they're your sisters? Literally? I've come to be somewhat familiar with them too. Searching for Pinoys... that's one of my litnet hobbies;)
It really feels nice to know that you've got some kababayans around.
Yes, we’re really sisters! I told them to join litnet hihi, we’re here almost a year now ~ Asteeg rock on!

Gadget Girl
10-24-2007, 03:17 AM
Great! Now we'll make this our thread... like a chatroom... is that even possible?
RoCKiTcZa
10-24-2007, 04:40 AM
I guess so...
Hey, so sorry I logged off. I hate to. Music class began much sooner than I thought.
Gadget Girl
10-24-2007, 11:59 AM
Me, too. By the time after I answered a thread, my internet connection broke off and I have to wait until midnight (yes, it's 12:00 PM sharp right now but I'm still fully awake). I even watched a movie before I logged in! :D
RoCKiTcZa
10-25-2007, 12:15 AM
Whoa! Good for you--I have no access to the internet at night. Perhaps that is how you have managed to make all those posts. Imagine--706 in a snap! The first time I saw you around you only had around 100. I've been here much longer than you and yet you have 200 more posts than I! :D
Why don't you blog?
Gadget Girl
10-25-2007, 01:27 AM
Hehehe. Yeah, it's also good that my parents allow me to stay up late. :p Other than that, everyday and everynight I'm here on LitNet so that helps me boost my points. Haha, I have 789 posts now... in other forums, I can't even reach 200. This happened to me only on LitNet and LitNet alone.
Well, the reason in that question, is I just don't want to. :p Usually, I don't know what to write everytime I'm in a blog or something. It's like everytime I'm going to write - I mean, going to type just a single letter - I don't know what's next. I'm weird sometimes. It's only a rare situation if I finished writing a blog.
RoCKiTcZa
10-25-2007, 11:47 PM
Hehe. My parents don't exactly approve of me staying up late, but they have no choice since I have soooo much homework to do at night. :(
By the way, I've seen your blog... hooray for you... I haven't updated my blog much anymore... say, why don't you post a pic of yours?
Gadget Girl
10-25-2007, 11:58 PM
Yeah, me and my friend are okay now. :) A pic? I'm a shy type of person, so probably I can't post a picture. :D
RoCKiTcZa
10-26-2007, 12:16 AM
Hehe. :) Yeah, me too (somehow). I'm scared of getting ambushed round the corner! (...by fans?:p)
How old are you, by the way?
Gadget Girl
10-26-2007, 08:26 AM
I really like people guessing, so I will ask you again. *laughs evilly* I will send you the answer via PM. :) So this will be a contest for us. You guess mine and I'll guess yours. Deal or no deal? *smugs*

Yeah, Pinoy talaga ako. :)
By the way, di ko na nakikita si Kit dito sa LitNet for, I think mga one week na siguro. Bakit kaya?

RoCKiTcZa
11-05-2007, 05:35 AM

RoCKiTcZa
11-05-2007, 09:30 PM
Hey there. I'm back! Sorry I logged off last night. Had some Drafting homework to do. *Sigh* I'm still dead tired up to now...
Let's see... maybe you are 14!!! Me? 17? Hmmm.... not yet...
Gadget Girl
11-06-2007, 09:12 AM
Alright, you are 16. That's my final guess. (You should take your final guess too so that the little guessing game we have here will be over. :))
Am I 14? I dunno... not sure.
RoCKiTcZa
11-06-2007, 11:13 PM
Haha... you should be. ;) I'm going with that one. Kakasa na ako! 14 ka.
Nope... not 16.
Gadget Girl
11-07-2007, 03:24 AM
What the heck? Nasabi ko na lahat ng age na pwede sa iyo ha... hmm, ano kaya? How about twelve? (Grabe, batang bata ka pa kung twelve ka pa lang.) Or how about thirteen? Ano ba talaga?? o.O
Update (seven hours later):
Haha! I know how old you are! You're :p! I was so stupid in not thinking of that before. Ugh! :flare:
So, am I right or what? :D Is it time for answers now?
RoCKiTcZa
11-07-2007, 11:42 PM
Yep. I wouldn't think of myself as _______ either--I'm often mistaken for someone over twenty, and I sometimes think I'm twenty-five too :p Besides I wouldn't want others being partial towards me because of my age, and for this reason I have decided not to state it.
How old are you? :D
Just a question, by the way, have you by any chance happened to touch Rizal's Noli me Tangere in school? I have to cram six chapters of the book this lunchtime and I don't know if I'll ever finish it. I know I read fast, but it's the outline part that troubles me. :(

The official language of communication on this Forum is English.
If you would like to communicate in other languages, please feel free to do so in your PMs.
RoCKiTcZa
11-08-2007, 06:00 AM
OK thank you. (that surprised me!)
Would phrases written in a language besides English including their translations be permitted?
Guys... let's PM each other... it feels so nice to talk in our national language... but anyways we can always talk to each other in here...

RoCKiTcZa
11-08-2007, 06:35 AM
Sure!!!:D Glad you're online again. sooo disappointing we won't be able to communicate in Filipino on this thread anymore... but that doesn't mean we should stop posting here, right? *wipes eyes on sleeve* hehe. It appears as though you still have a blog, however. Weird.
Scheherazade
11-08-2007, 08:34 AM
OK thank you. (that surprised me!)Just made a list of the countries our members come from and could think of at least 35 within the first couple of minutes (I am sure there are more if I gave a serious thought to it). If everyone spoke their own language, the Forum would stop serving to its original purpose and become a place of absolute chaos.
Killjoy or not, I will have to insist that you have Filipino chats in your PMs.
Gadget Girl
11-08-2007, 11:27 AM
Uh-oh, we're caught! *runs away* It's good I wasn't here when Sche turned up. Sorry for breaking the rules again, Scheherazade. Let's see, I've broke the rules twice in this forum -- first the siggy and now our national language.
Just a question, by the way, have you by any chance happened to touch Rizal's Noli me Tangere in school? I have to cram six chapters of the book this lunchtime and I don't know if I'll ever finish it. I know I read fast, but it's the outline part that troubles me. :(
Oh, I'm sorry, Kit. I haven't. :( Well, I guess you've already finished it last night 'cuz you're a fast reader, right? Which is a good thing. I can't even do that myself.
RoCKiTcZa
11-09-2007, 12:45 AM
Hehe... I'm a lawbreaker too... take me as the primary suspect!!! :D hehehe, just kidding. I see, you're in 2nd year high school, aren't you? Noli is 4th year reading material, but we have to study it now... it's harrassing, indeed, especially with loads of homework to do. Indeed, Pisay isn't easy. Many people surrender or get kicked out, and I sure don't want any of those to happen to me. Yep, I've been trying to read it part by part... last summer I almost completed it... yet I'm afraid I've forgotten several portions already...

calling all filipinos that are bored!!
let's arrange a grand parade. let's wear colorful costumes and stuffs. let's put royalty on the road, and fill the bloody times with celebration
RoCKiTcZa
11-13-2007, 04:39 AM
Wow. I would've preferred it Black, though. So we could all say "Welcome to the Black Parade." And send black fireworks up into the daytime sky. Then we toss our black hats and yell with joy.
Why, did another bombing occur?
andrew23
11-13-2007, 04:48 AM

RoCKiTcZa

"two birds in one shot"
that sounds powerful.
RoCKiTcZa
11-13-2007, 11:09 PM
Hey there. Two birds in one shot? Powerful indeed. :p And GREEN-MINDED too! But oh, no, I don't want to think of that, even though most of the kids in my class are soooooo lewd and bawdy. Telling you, Pisay isn't a school for nerds, as many people say. People in here are the exact opposite. And my entire class is green!!!

hehe... That's nice of you. Never in my life have I met a guy who wasn't the least bit green-minded. As far as I know, all Pinoys are green, or at least able to comprehend green things. :) I've been around with green people for so long I'm starting to think a bit like them... well I'm sort of off-color myself. But I refuse to let these green thoughts pollute my head. It's unhealthy.

andrew23
11-16-2007, 09:25 PM
I don't think so. it's more of an admiration in deep silence. she's not my destiny. however, all loves can be true in different ways..
however again, i'm not like the others. cause in all the ways love that can be true, to me it's the sum of all the others..

A wish
I wish the hard rock of life
Would melt before my eyes;
I dream that those thick clouds
Go away from the pure blue sky.
Another sigh in my heart tells me
That this is only but a dream,
And I will never realize the joy
In all I thought it would seem.
Writing rhymes do me console,
But I know rhymes do deplete and also end;
And climbing the path to the top-
of the mountain shall my time be most spend.
I could not bring back the smile in the past,
Nor guarantee joy in the future;
I do not even know or am sure why
We continue life's adventure.
I wish the vague light of life
Would clarify before my eyes;
I wish I have the enough strength
To remove all clouds of sighs.
My heart is very much troubled,
And my body is getting weary;
I wish I would soon see clarity,
Before my vision gets blurry.

11-17-2007, 05:08 AM
i did not post it there, for reasons such as:
1. i'd rather let the filipinos have the number 1 privilege to my art. hehe
2. there's lot of time wasting criticisms in personal poetry.
3. therefore i'd rather post it here for the good of my fellow citizens.
4. it's 100% filipino friendly (sounds like user-friendly in cellphones haha!)
Gadget Girl

Hey there. I'm back! :D Spent the whole weekend hunched over my lessons. I couldn't understand a thing. Especially algebra--I like Math, but it drains me. This week's Hell Week--long tests every single day. It's a good thing our IS test was postponed--or else I'd have to end the period getting 2 points on series of 6-item tests about d-t graphs and adding vectors using the polygon method... ARRRRGGGH!!!! Still, I'm glad I've found some time to spend in here. Litnet will always be my second home. ;)

Anyway, don't fret, Kit. I love Math, especially Algebra -- it's a very interesting subject, isn't it? But sometimes I find my mind about to explode in just one difficult Algebra problem. My sister loves it though. She's the best in her class! She's a genius!!!
Hehe, but honestly, you can do it if you put your mind to it. :D

Well, I'm an only child... it's really quite fun. I grew up in the company of older people. Oh well. I guess. When I was ten years old, we spent our whole Christmas vacation at my uncle's house. My cousin, who was 5 then, was really smart, and having "taken after me" (as stated in stories told to him by his mom and dad), he tailed behind me all the time and asked me to read him stories to the point that he was nearly forcing me to read exactly the way he wanted the stories to be read to him. Yet he was a kid, and because of this I could not contest against him. I had to give way, even though it would ruin my so-called "reputation" that ran everywhere. I found it really irritating. He kept getting mad at me because I kept saying "wala lang." When we left, he was only half-awake, and none of us cared much about the years to come. After all, "we'd had enough." :p
We call their house often, though, and whenever he gets on the phone, he yells into my ear indirect statements of missing me etc., yet by then my eardrums would be too rattled to hear.
Gadget Girl
11-23-2007, 06:50 AM
Haha! He misses you so much, then! Aww, how sweet. When my other cousins were away when I was a little kid, they'll call me saying that they miss me and I will immediately yell at the phone how I also want them to be home, giving my grandma a heart attack. That was the good 'ol days.
I also remember I made my cousins and siblings to read to me the stories like Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Jack and the Beanstalk, Ugly Duckling, Little Red Riding Hood and so much more. I will enjoy reading with them because they were all pop-up books, which I really loved before so I was just looking at the pictures while they read. :D That was the easy life.

Time to visit my special place..
"A special place"
by Andrew
My soul is stucked in a place
Of still silence and loneliness,
There under the warm sun,
Staring at the sky's vastness.
I was always there alone,
Far from the joys of others,
Far from the laughs and smiles,
And no one even bothers.
That special place in my heart
Has been a home for me,
It's warm and comfortable,
And it gives me serenity.
I thirst for the sunlight
To touch my cold soul,
I like to see the leaves nod,
Drowsy like sleeping.
I know I'll always be alone,
This sentiment is fine,
Cause I can always go there
In the special place of mine.

And uh, I found a poem written in the wind.
"Me and the moon"
Just a little moment,
Let it be just this way,
Just stay there tonight
Until tomorrow if you may.
Please glow forever,
Let this ecstatic joy last,
Cause your beautiful radiance
Makes me forget the lonely past.
Let my heart celebrate
This rapturous feeling inside,
Let me be here forever
Til the beautiful night subside.
Our cold souls gather here
In this precious, silent hours,
And tonight we shall enjoy
The evening without stars.

hehe! aww, not really. his real name is Dan and we were almost... you know!... but because of my own stupidity all my hopes and chances were lost... damn, I don't really want to talk about it but then again I guess it's just right... serves him fine for being that way, daring to hold my hand and walk with me and letting go of everything when I confessed my love for him. Oh well. :( We call him "the moon" because the zits and chickenpox scars (without them he would've been handsome) make him look like it :p  The world is indeed surprising, but that doesn't include him, I suppose. ;)

People here familiar with this list by the Modern Library? In 1998 they did this list of the "100 best" novels of the 20th century. You can see the list here. (http://www.nytimes.com/library/books/072098best-novels-list.html) I wouldn't agree as to it's claim as "the best" but it sure is a fun thing to do.
I've been doing it since last year, and most of the books are very interesting. So far I finished 60 already and I decided to read something not in the list, which is Adam Bede.

Wow. That's great. :) I really envy you for having the time to do that... why, those are the books I've always wanted to read! I've read Animal Farm and a few chapters taken from Lord of the Flies. A Clockwork Orange is interesting too. As of now, I'm on the lookout for books that disturb the mind (oftentimes, they are the ones that really make you think). Young adult literature (especially Newbery-award books) has captured my interest as well.

...nice. But tiring. And sometimes boring.
About the speedy hand? Nah. Well, it is good sometimes. I admit that. Especially when you're in a hurry with something. In computer science and all the computer-related subjects your classmates tell you to type everything because you're the "master typist" while they sit around "supervising". But not when you lack discipline (like me!). I admire your ability to do requirements without being bothered very much with the "other stuff."

i actually bought most of them in booksale. imagine buying a hemingway book for 15 pesos  the store clerks think i'm crazy, though.
most of the novels on that list are pretty insane too. well, aside from those which were written by insane authors (my favorite on that list, so far, is To the Lighthouse by Virginia Woof) or authors that can actually turn you nuts (Henry James or William Faulkner) Faulkner is the best because he writes like a madman; see The Sound & the Fury (a favorite of mine too) where he utilized the stream of consciousness method first person narrative on a retard and a neurotic.

i'm reading Crime & Punishment and i've just finished part one. a bit brutal for a novel published in 1866. i'm liking it though. now i can see Dostoevsky's influence on the modernists.
hey toni i think i'm getting that dance step :p so what are your favorite Hardy and Lawrence books? i always think there's resemblance on how they see things & most of their stories are usually placed in similar settings (rural England, the heath, moors etc). Both like volutptious ladies too ;) You're kind of expecting Lucetta and Gudrun appear at the same time.

Enchanted. Na-ah. Haven't seen that one yet. What's it about again? The title sounds really familiar to me. (Gosh, my box-office knowledge is so outdated!)
Gadget Girl
02-13-2008, 06:54 AM
Nah, I'm not loaded. I don't have that reputation. My classmates are shouting with my other classmates or sometimes at random students who will pass their way (they're like bullies, poor little kids).
Enchanted is the best! It's a Walt Disney production. Here's the summary:
An animated fairy tale meets modern, live-action comedy. The beautiful princess Giselle is banished by an evil queen from her magical, musical animated land and finds herself in the gritty reality of the streets of modern-day Manhattan. Shocked by this strange new environment that doesn't operate on a "happily ever after" basis, Giselle is now adrift in a chaotic world badly in need of enchantment. But when Giselle begins to fall in love with a charmingly flawed divorce lawyer who has come to her aid - even though she is already promised to a perfect fairy tale prince back home - she has to wonder: Can a storybook view of romance survive in the real world?
If you have time you can see the trailer on YouTube. Just don't watch the spoilers 'cuz that'll ruin the excitement.

Gosh, Sir Bartholomew, you're such a bookworm! I'm beginning to think you're this author who's known throughout the Philippines... hehe, please put up with me--me and my crazy ideas. :p
I really miss reading, having been unable to do so for quite a long time on account of my being so busy (you know, school and everything). In fact there were times when I used to cry helplessly over things too silly to be cried for, wishing for the summer to come. The fact that school's over now, however, seems to have a different impact on me. First of all, I'll be a year older, and I don't think I would like to grow up. If only there were a way for time to stop or for it to at least keep reeling on without having to change, I'd grasp it right away. This year I am in right now (and the year I will be leaving soon) is the best year in high school--everyone says so. Next year, there will be too many subjects, which means too many work to do at night. No more monster breaks--nothing. No two-hour lunches. No more extra time to cram. Next year, there will be no stage plays, no overnight batch activities. No Stargazing--the best overnight activity my batch has ever had. And then the most feared phenomenon--the Reshuffling of Sections. :( And to think that it's the month of March--my birth month--a month for me to grow up--and grow another year older. And I don't want to grow up! Not anymore!!!
*sigh* On the bright side, however...
...I'm back!!!
:D

14. old. 14. old. 14. old. A decade and four years. Old. :( Yeah, you must be right. I myself feel old too. But you--old? Noooo way. You didn't look so old in your pic. I look like a sober 20-year-old. :bawling:
Haha. Never mind me. I'm just trying to get it all out, so that maybe I could force myself into believing I'm young again  Yeah, I believe you'll have more freedom in America once you get used to things there. They will set you free sometime, don't you ever worry about that :) I myself sometimes think I'm a prisoner in my own household. *sigh* If only there were a better way to spend this summer. Hey, Sir Bart! Wuthering Heights, eh? The book by Emily Bronte? It's a beautiful book, they say, and I've heard it was the inspiration for a certain popular song (I'm not sure which one, though). I haven't read it yet, but once I manage to get hold of a copy, I'll have my nose in it for an hour or two (until I finish it). :brow:
You got detention in the library? Wonderful! That would probably be the best and most sought-after punishment a student could ever long for. ;)

I'm sure Einstein didn't always come up with the right theory all the time--and in fact I'm pretty certain E=mc2 didn't just explode into his brain like an atom bomb  You've got to accept it, for you are only human and every human being makes mistakes. No one is perfect. Still, there's something you can and ought to do--make sure it won't happen again the next time around. How can you do that? Don't just study--prepare. That's what the really great Physics/Earthsci teacher in our school tells us. :) If you get to drop by our school sometime, I'm sure I could manage to get him teach you--you'll learn quite a lot from him. Well, I not very familiar about the details of microbiology (say, what course do you take up?) but I'm pretty sure my mom could help you (she got a 1.0 in that subject when she was in college!). We could learn this simultaneously, what do you think? :D
Mababaw ang kaligayahan, eh? Sure, don't worry, pareho lang tayo  Pero teka--hindi mababaw yun! That's great, you know! That's an accomplishment you ought to be very proud of--why, even I always feel good after completing a good poem (I'm not really a 'seasoned writer'--of course not yet--but I do have lots of experience in writing stories and poems, having done it since I was two) because I should admit my poems aren't always that good. :)
Sure, I'll listen to the song.
Hope to hear from you again! :D

Death Comes for the Archbishop is actually on my TBR longlist. Among Cather's works I have read Alexander's Bridge and My Antonia both of which I liked but would not consider my absolute favorites. Right now I'm reading The Poisonwood Bible, I very highly recommend it.
