Oh, Great thanks. Inshaallah!
besides, I know that every muslim is under an obligation to visit there once. But that crowd I watch during HAJJ still stop me to do it.
Utopia, I wonder d'you wear hijab? (you're female, aren't you?)
I have problem with it. I can't give up the way wearing I got used to.

One of my best friend's just gone to Saudi. It pisses me off because every time she goes:
a) there are only so many people left in this country who are willing to take my crap
b) she tells me what a really great, kickass time she's having [without me!! is it possible???] and how much she LOVEs the place, and passes around holiday pics.
So apparently: it's a reeeeaaaallly great place. But without ME there must be a limit as to just how great it really is. :p :D
Or maybe my absence is what makes it such a great country? :p

LOL Yes, there's a law there that Faye may not enter and spoil their non-Faye fun. :D
Utopia,
I really know nothing about Saudi Arabia. A boy I admired but didn't know very well moved there in 2nd grade. (He said he'd come back in 5th, but he never did. :() Other than that, I only know how to find it on a world map, and that Islam is the national religion.
Actually, when you joined, I tried to find information about your country online, because I realized how little I knew. But so much of what I found was only about politics and violence, and very politically biased, that I got frustrated and stopped looking. :( Do you know any sites that have information just about Saudi Arabia's culture and people? I would be really interested in learning more about that. :)

Hey, so is ravana a girl?
Saudi Arabia... I don't know much about it I must say... when I think of it I think of:
the sound of arabic language and the writing
desert/sand
petrol
uh yes...women wearing that 'veil' thing
...and all those sort of exotic stuff related to the word 'arabian' (bellydancing, mysterious stories... )
Oh, and I couldnt help noticing that arabic girls are so beautiful... There are quite a lot of arabic (or anyway, from that area in general) living here, and the girls have such beautiful features and big deep eyes... And when I see tv from 'arabic countries' (if I watch satellite tv I get a lot of those), the women have alwyas such beautiful faces... I'm envious! ;)

It's getting funny. Who else thought me a guy?
Honestly, Koa, I also had no idea about your sex. But now I've paid attention to your avatar, there's a flower. What shall I think?

Think what you want, I generally hate flowers apart from that one :D
And as stated elsewhere I'm a girl too :)
Btw ravana, was Azerbaijan in the Soviet Union, or am I wrong? If it was, can you speak Russian? Just curious! :)

Unfortunately it was. My Russian is excellent. Though I left Azerbaijan school. I had to read most of world literature in Russian. Here's still plenty of Russian schools and still many azerbaijanians who can't speak native Azerbaijan turkish as properly.
PS. I know arabic else, but a little. Learned it in order to read Koran in original.

Oh, Koa, I right now recollected the thread about Anna Akhmatova. Did I guess your curiousity? If you need anything I'll be glad to help.
Em, thanks for a compliment. Because it's not just ID, it's my real name as well. But perhaps you already know, I posted about it.

Salam, G.Utopia, You are quite right. But don't forget that I grew up in the country where the religious was forbidden. I'm the only one in my family who worship. My people, inclooding my family believe in God and keep most Islam traditions, but they don't follow them as properly, and have no any habit to do 5 times pray.
I think I just need time to accept it.

Ravana, you are brave.
Green Utopia, years ago I shared a flat in Arizona with fellow by the name of Saleh who was from Saudi Arabia. At the time he was a lieutenant in the Royal Saudi Arabian Air Force. I’ve lost touch with him over the years but I remember him as one of the nicest people I’ve ever known. Like you, he was a devout Muslim. And like you, he was a great ambassador for his country.
To give you an idea of the generosity of this man, I’ve got to give you one small example: Saleh was not a terribly rich person and consequently he owned a fairly old car. One day Saleh came walking up to the apartment while the rest of us were out in the yard grilling up some dinner. We asked him if his car had broken down. He said, “No, I gave it away.” What! “I gave it away to friend. He didn’t have a car, so I gave him mine.” We asked him how he planned to get to work and he said, “Oh, I’ll just walk.” (It wasn’t a short walk) Anyway, I’ve continued to think about that episode frequently throughout the years.
I also think that these friendships that are made on-line can go a long way to increasing the understanding between our cultures.
Assalamu alaikum. (I think that means: Peace be with you)
