To an eight year old
The days are fun,
There's time to play
And there's time to run.

The day time is filled
With games and toys,
The night times are full
Of the dreams of boys.

Do you remember
The things you dreamed?
Adventures had
While the moonlight beamed.

Were you a cowboy?
A knight with horse?
Always duelling,
And winning of course?

In your adventures
Where did you go?
Up on the moon?
In the sea below?

Were you a racer?
Playing your part?
Helping your mates
By pushing the cart?

Now you are older,
Time has gone past,
Dreams are different
Though memories last.

Sharing your memories
Will help them remain.
Talk to the kids,
Their dreams are the same.

having quite difficulty to understand poems in english, I feel great finding one I understand so easily. This one has got under my skin... I could feel shivering on my back... I liked it a lot... it is so simple and on the other hand full of words ;)

Thankyou for your comments, the first verse was written when my youngest brother was eight, (quite a few years ago now) the rest was written on Monday.
