What's your favorite TV show and which one would you recomend for me to see?

(or movie too.)

It really depends what you're into.

The Venture Bros. - If you don't mind animation, it has tons of cultural references, great unique characters, and is very funny.
Stella - Silliest TV show ever, chock full of inside joke-type material.
Firefly - Amazing sci-fi show, mixing space and western genres. Action, humor, suspense, drama all rolled into one.
Garth Marenghi's Darkplace - Very well-crafted British satire of 80s medical/sci-fi/horror series. Also has plenty of inside joke-type material.
The Office (US) - Plain hilarious

I only watch TV for humor, so that's what you get (I never saw Firefly on TV, just on DVD).

(I never saw Firefly on TV, just on DVD).

Oh, I love Firefly! It's a very off-beat show but brilliant and if you like Sci-Fi, this would be a safe bet.

Annamariah, when you say Spooks are you talking about a show about the British Intelligence, MI5? I used to watch it religiously on BBC America but it was called MI5. I quit watching it when Tom and then Zoe left, I was too heartbroken to go on. Oh and speaking of BBC America, another series on there that I've grown quite attached to is Life on Mars. I've only seen the first season, they have yet to show the second and last one yet but I'm anxiously waiting for it.

Most of my recommendations have already been mentioned but I'll add Scrubs and My Name is Earl.

How about Veronica Mars?

It just went off the air :bawling: but you can get the first two seasons on DVD. It's a little bit girly, but also dark and can be funny also. I've heard it called Twin Peaks crossed with Nancy Drew, and that is kinda accurate. At least I think so. But it's one of those things that you really have to watch from the beginning in order to get into.

yay Firefly ;)

I watch way too much TV. I always liked Will and Grace but a good deal of the time Grace would be just too grating and annoying, thank goodness for Jack and Karen. Some of my other favorites are:

Gilmore Girls (to bad it ended)
Eureka (desperately waiting on the second season)
Numbers (anything with a mathmatician is ok in my book)
Star Trek: TNG reruns
Mythbusters
What Not To Wear
Project Runway
Top Chef

I only watch CSI regulary (and even that mostly re-runs... They show the new season too early for me).

If I have idle in front of TV, I usually turn to ABC1 or Paramount Comedy because I can watch their shows without worrying about what has happened before or will happen afterwards.

Yes, MI5 it is :) I've seen two first episodes from season one, 'cause Spooks started here in Finland in mtv3 just last week. The funny thing is that I've already seen season 2, because it was shown two years ago in another Finnish channel... I didn't know that it might not be picked up next season, that is so stupid. It does have a particular kind of humour that might not appeal to many, but it's the best show i've seen in years and it's more than comedy, that's for sure.

Have you ever seen "Dead Like Me"? Fantastic show on Showtime for 2 or 3 seasons.

Dead Like Me was an excellent show, but now cancelled unfortunately.

Kick myself for admitting to watching too much TV now, but I very much enjoy:

Lost
ER
Bones
Battlestar Galactica
Any BBC wildlife programme, aka The Blue Planet, Planet Earth.
The Office (original UK version - way funnier than the US version)
Blackadder
Red Dwarf
Only Fools & Horses
Carnivale - also now sadly cancelled.
Monty Python's Flying Circus
Futurama
Dalziel & Pascoe - when it's on
Waking the Dead - when it's on (and what is it about Trevor Eve?....)

Currently watching:
Rome
Life on Mars - the re-run from the beginning. We missed it first time round and I've heard so many good things about it I wished I watched it then.
Dr. Who
Criminal Minds
House - have to love Hugh Laurie (hasn't he come a long way!)
My Name is Earl
The Simpsons

Which sounds like an horrendous amount doesn't it?! Good job they're not all on at the same time!

There seem to be a lot of House fans here. It's off now in my country, they are only showing reruns. :bawling: Waitung impatiently for the new episodes - I hope there will be new ones???

As for Monty Python: I think that's the best comedy series ever. Of course it's been off for years now, and nobody seems to be thinking of a rerun, so when I was in London last autumn I bought a couple of DVDs. Very good to watch whenever you feel depressed! My favourites (among others): the parrot sketch and the one with "Good night, ding ding ding..." (don't know what it's called) and Silly Walks and and ...

Good to find someone who loves this series, too. Are there any more people here who like it?

Favorite episode right there. "It stinks!"
I think I love that show a little too much. I just love how it pokes fun at pop culture and it takes a little thinking to watch it. Plus it is absolutely GENIUS. So creative, too...puppets...awesome plot line...

But I also like (In order of liking):

Fullmetal Alchemist (it was the only anime that survived my anime years...still love it a lot because it has so much history, meaning, etc. Plus it's just different from all the other animes. I mean, it's not set in Japan for one thing. Not like there's a problem, with that, I mean.) Them movie is really great. It does tie up a lot of things...but FMA is EPIC, man. I love it so much. I own all the episodes plus the movie. It makes me cry a lot. I hear you on the Nina thing...Drama! You like FMA!? Cool! My friend actually met the guy who plays Ed on the dub, (I actually like the dub a lot, anyone else agree?) plus the people who play Winry, Roy, Havoc... (Ha ha, Havoc is so cool.) and maybe some other people...

I thought that was so funny about Silent thinking Ed was Fullmetal...he always gets that.

Al: "Um, I'm not the Fullmetal Alchemist...he is." *points*
Ed: *fumes*

Invader Zim
PeeWee's Playhouse
Dexter's Laboratory
Tony Robinson's Worst Jobs in History (Especially when Tony dresses up like an old fishwife-best episode EVER. So hilarious.)
Robot Chicken
Blackadder

OMG, Freaks and Geeks! I only want to see that because Trace Beaulieu is in it...I think he's a biology teacher in it or something.

So far from the two episodes I've seen, Dead like Me is pretty awesome.

I really want to see Dr. Who! D:

My friend actually met the guy who plays Ed on the dub, (I actually like the dub a lot, anyone else agree?) plus the people who play Winry, Roy, Havoc... (Ha ha, Havoc is so cool.) and maybe some other people...

That's so cool that your friend met the people from the dub. They are so funny and dorky (and that is meant in the best sense possible!). It seems like you have to be funny and dorky in order to do anime dubbing. ;)

Oh yeah with the FMA fans! Vic sounds really nice, I've been contemplating e-mailing him, but I'm really, really shy. I still haven't sent my letter to Trace Beaulieu yet. If I ever, that is. Vic has a MySpace, too, and I've been tempted to add him...

And there seem to be a lot of Blackadder fans here, too. :) Seriously no one knows whta that is over here in the U.S. So, I love LitNet. I can connect with Blackadder fans. Huzzah! I mean, I'm pretty you Blackadder fans live in the U.K. Or most of you do. I assume.

1) So You Think You Can Dance is quality entertainment. I am.. addicted. :p

2) I hear you on the CSI, though I don't watch it any more. When I did it was Vegas only and maybe one or two Miamis, haven't even touched the New York.

I was just watching the fourth season (I have the DVD), and was wondering how many perfect literary references it had in it! Very funny and enjoyable! It's a pity they cancelled it. :(

I don't have a TV anymore so this is the stuff that I have enjoyed before or I am ordering from Netflix:

Normal TV shows:
Tales from a Parallel Universe (first season of LEXX) - my favorite. Not really a show, though, but they call it a show.
Farscape - it was kind of OK but I got bored at it at the end of Season 3, it never had anything in it for me.
X-Files - watched pretty much all of those, they are OK.
Desperate housewives - haha.

Cartoon:
Family Guy - simply hillarious.
Simpson - I only like them in Ukrainian, otherwise, I like Family Guy a lot more.

Anime:
Naruto certainly, but I really didn't see much of anime.
Digimon - they look pretty childish now, but I liked them when I was 10 or so.

Milo Ventimiglia is gorgeous. Yeah, that episode was hilarious! I made the mistake of doing that in Barnes and Noble, where my crush works...well, he saw me. I almost died.

Hey Bakiryu...I recorded an episode of Dr. Who. I'm going to see how it is later tonight.

I love Milo Ventimiglia ever since I first saw him on Heroes. He's just so cool and a great actor to boot. Dr. Who is awesome: trust me!
