While growing up, I was desperate to be like her... She was pretty, clever and kind... And there wasn't anything she could not do: Cook, ride, dance; you name it!
The Green knight. He is the man.

Sorry to disappoint you, but there's a thread like that in the "General Literature" forum already. It's called "which character".
But I'll answer, anyway. The longer I think about it the more I come to the conclusion that I'd rather be myself - in spite of all my problems and flaws. Most women in literature seem worse off ...:)

I would like to be Jean Valjean, he's an ex-convict who becomes a good person but is hunted down by Inspector Javert. Or Erik from 'Phantom of the Opera'

From a book, I think I'd like to be Socrates. Mercutio was pretty cool too. Or maybe Don Juan. If it was any fictional character, probably Lupin the Third, but both Apollo and Artemis would also be fun.

Yeah, my parents took away my Calvin and Hobbes books because they thought Calvin was a bad role model. Really, though, I wanted to be Hobbes. He's the witty one.

You got to her before I could! ;)
I suppose I would be content as Jane Eyre then! :)
Then, of course, I wouldn't mind being Cecily Cardew from "The Importance of Being Earnest". That way I could tame Algernon Moncrieff! :p

Princess Brandy Alexander from Invisible Monsters by Chuck Palahniuk because she makes being a transsexual pre-vaginoplasty sound freakin hilarious yet hella depressing all at the same time.

What is with you people and wanting to be Kyo? Shigure is so much cooler.
But anyways~
I'd like to be Sherlock Holmes(or as long as I'm bringing up manga I never ever read, little Detective Conan).
Or maybe, Bunbury from The Importance of Being Earnest, he'd be a fun not actually a character to be.
Lucas Davenport from the "Prey" series would be cool to be too...maybe.

Yay! I love Calvin and Hobbes. I like Calvin's Dad , but I wouldn't want to be him because then I'd have to deal with Calvin, and who wants to do that?
Ok, I think I'd want to be Scout Finch from To Kill a Mockingbird. She's so cute and smart, and I'd love to hang with Atticus.

Still Ralph Touchett, for me. Yes, he's doomed, but he's really one of the nicest characters in literature who isn't stupid. Swell guy. :thumbs_up
