I'm looking for a 14th century alliterative poem "Pearl" (the same author of "Sir Gawain"). The original version is available; however, I'm hoping to find a modernized version.

Tolkien did a very good translation of Pearl. It's in paperback along with translations of Gawain and Orfeo. Here you go:

Though if you prefer a more aesthetically pleasing version, look for the UK one released by Harper Collins.

Thanks. I've already read "Sir Gawain" in Tolkien's translation and I love it. However, I was hoping for "Pearl's" translation on-line, not necessarily by Tolkien. I just want to become familiar with the poem. (^_^)

I'm not sure about an online translation of "Pearl," but you can find a version of the text with side by side annotations of some of the trickier words on this site. http://athena.english.vt.edu/~baugh/Medieval/ This site is also useful and interesting in that it has audio narrations of Middle English poems which are both fun to listen to and may be useful in helping to understanding the language.
