The other day a person used the expression "The pot calling the kettle black", I understood what he meant by it (although all my pots are silver) and I gave him grief because I thought it was a lame saying... But know I can't think of another way to put it... Can any of you come up with one?

I think mine is quite lame....in those instances I tend to say "Look who's talking!" or as a friend of mine put it once..."Look who's squawking!". :)

:D i think its a good one! An old house mate of mine was a teetotaler, and he use to criticise me and our other housemate for drinking wine. we use to say this to him all the time. He was the one who told us it in the first place!

Wonderful alternative!

Or how about "The priest preaching to the Pope"

Twain once said "Who publishes the Temperance papers? People who will never draw a sober breath until they do it in the grave..." or words to that effect...

Hmmm, I've been thinking (yes I know not usually a good idea) and I dont believe either of these work. because in both cases they are not equal in stature - whereas both pt and kettle are black. The creek is smaller than the river and the priest is lower than the pope.

A pipe smoker telling a cigarette smoker "Those things will kill you, you know."

We absolutely loved that story!

Yeah, offtopic, we know.

How about: "Spammer claiming offtopicer to be offtopic"?
