Maybe if it had something to do with a stone I'd give it a laugh, stoning someone, stoned, getting stoned, there's an idea.

Wow, I'm surprised that hasn't popped up in my computer yet.
Btw, to make images appear you write [insert link here]. I don't know if you can do it by uploading files from your computer, though.

LMAO well, I laughed till my stomach hurt. :D
And yes, I must conclude that girls are evil as well. Damn your Vulcan logic!

[edit] There is an excuse for running like a girl. 1) if you're wearing high heels 2) if you're built like some of us are, certain adaptations to the standard running motion are necessary to avoid...um...discomfort. :D

LMAO ! I like it. That's the excuse I'm using this weekend to get my mom to go to the mall. :D

"Billboards We'd Like to See." It's pretty lame, but where else could I post this and even have a chance of anyone laughing? :D

http://www.dribbleglass.com/subpages/billboards40c.htm

(BTW, this site has tons of hilarious stuff, but most of the jokes are dirty, so if you're offended by that type of stuff, don't look at the rest of the pics. If you aren't, I highly recommend it! :D)

Yeah, that's my fave too (we are proud of our privates?? LMAO)
there are so many things that i keep wanting to add to my site but i cant get off this forum long enough to do it. that and i have used up all of the webspace that i am allowed for the email addy that i have, so i have to sign up a new one, and link two sites together, and oh...so much work. i will eventually, like maybe when my honey goes to Afghanistan. but right now...all time is spoken for, between him and you folks!

Edit: and of course, my kid, housework, my job, sleeping, schoolwork (when the time is right!) and so on. i am not ALL about the forum. sort of....i think.....maybe.....bah...nevermind.

the person who posted the first sign must've had a great imagination! :D
as for the second one... I guess that person is one heck of a recycler...
and it reminds me, I just recently discovered a hidden tombstone near where I live... :eek2: it was scary because it was kind of dark when I found it and because I had an unpleasant experience with ghosts when I was small I literally ran all the way home..

Just recently I saw on the news that some kids had vandalized a graveyard in... I think Braintree, but I may be thinking of another story. It was somewhere in South Boston I think. Anyway, anyway -- it was a new cemetery with all those huge heavy granite stones, but somehow they managed to dislodge the top parts and kick them over. They caught them a few days later, but I was just like, "How big were these kids?"

Kiwi Shelf
07-04-2004, 11:06 PM
Too bad those "before" images aren't the ones people see, then society would be so different...

emily655321
07-05-2004, 04:58 AM
I don't think Diaz, Silverstone, Britney or Madonna (*ahem* I mean "Esther" ) look bad in their before's.. or Goldie Hawn, considering her age. It's mostly just lousy pics of them. But I agree, of course; if you compare yourself first-thing-in-the-morning to the "after" pics in all the magazines, you end up with...our culture.

verybaddmom
07-05-2004, 02:51 PM
well that's exactly the point really. i mean, realistically, they dont look horrible, but according to the standards they have set for both themselves and the general public, they look like crap. which is why women in our culture are rarely satisfied with themselves, because we ALWAYS look like the first pics. we dont generally have access to makeup artists and beaty salons on a daily basis that these wealthy celebritites do. this generates this feeling of discontentment with our own appearance and results in so many of the pains that women go to to make themselves resemble the "after" pictures, like eating disorders and cosmetic surgery etc.

what i think is that we should distribute these photos to any woman that you know that feels she doesnt measure up, and to men that use these celebrity women as measuring sticks for beauty. then perhaps we can inject some realistic expectations into their minds...maybe?

emily655321
07-05-2004, 05:48 PM
we should distribute these photos to any woman that you know that feels she doesnt measure up

Hmm...yes, I'll be sure to show those couple of women I know... That's the problem. It runs so much deeper than "I know this one woman who doesn't feel she measures up."

But then it always has. Photography and television haven't helped, but there's always been something. For as long as people have celebrated the beauty of the female form, there have been women who realized, "hey, I don't look like goddess-whats-her-name..."

Not to forget about the guys. You can't tell me guys haven't felt bad looking at pictures of Roman gods and Olympians way-back-when? The problem is, men are valued for multiple other traits, real or imaginary. Womens other traits seem only to be valued if they're also beautiful; "Wow, she's got beauty AND brains!"

amuse

i was absolutely shocked when i opened those. wow. though there was a book by bobbi brown (of the makeup, not bobby brown of new edition), and there were similar before/after pics of models in it.
still, kind of blows me away...good points you make, ladies.

Cameron Diaz is as beautiful as ever, it's just a bad picture (taken at an awkward expression). Alicia Silverstone was never pretty, so there's no issue there. Britney or Madonna don't look bad either.

lol those duck pictures have been floating around the internet for a while now. someone even posted it as there own work on deviantart, though I was quick to point out they just stole the image. Anyway, someone showed me it a while back and said the ducklings had kept going, but because the mother is looking back and down, it looks like they fell down. Its cute if you know its not real.

thank goodness!!!

sorry, am blanking on the first person , but i think she looks like a happy boy in the before picture. but very clean and jolly.

the only decent before pic that i see is madonna, but i happen to think she's beautiful, so am biased. pamela anderson looks like angry trailer park trash, which i find a little shocking.

Exactly what I was thinking. So does Jenna Elfman, which is sad because she's the only one of them about whom I've thought, "she seems like really nice lady." Well, age will do that I suppose. But definitely an explanation for why actresses seem ageless -- uhh, they aren't.

Awwww. :D You're like a cutsie little puppy, you is. Good thing for the old pic -- you have to lay the cuteness on slowly, my good man. A mohawk may have been fatal.

Speaking of which, my bestest friend came over Wednesday, and since we hadn't seen each other since March, we finally gave each other our b-day presents. I just love this card! :D

I took a pic of my brother's cat sleeping in a vase we use for fruit...but he found it empty and started sleeping in it :D

And I might flood you with pics of England if I actually feel bored enough and active enough to go through the painful process of attaching a pic ;)

This reminds me a good piece of logic:

Half-alive = half-dead (half x equals, as we all know to 0,5 *x)
Letś multiply both sides of equation with 2.
The result is:
alive =dead

I have a question to ask of anyone who knows about these things. As I mentioned on another post, I got a virus on my computer that overwrote all of my pictures, and I was told that it would be impossible to retrieve them. I figured that my avatar is still visible because it must be on the website; however, I noticed that the images I attached to one of these threads (what do you like most about where you live) are still accessible, and I thought that these would wiped out because they are no longer on my hard drive. Does this website have these pictures stored somewhere, or is it still possible to get my pictures from my hard drive? I won't be disappointed if you say no, but I wanted to explore all options.
