Hey all,
My brother is in a speech league and he is looking for a piece of literature to interpret (recite) for his tournaments. He needs two, one humorous, and one dramatic. It can be a book or a short story. It has to be published. If it's a book we'll just use an excerpt from it. The speech will be about ten minutes. The more dialogue the better. We're looking for pieces with a wide range of emotions. So yeah, I hope this is clear. Any suggestions will be appreciated.
Thanks, Wei

There's loads to choose from in the section with the searchable texts by author. I just looked at P.G. Wodehouse's PSmith Journalis as anything by Wodehouse would be great for the comic interpretation, and as for the dramatic, there's everything from Zane Grey to Emile Zola. It's yours for the picking. ;)

A book that is almost all dialogue, literally pages upon pages of it,
and that has both comic and dramatic moments is The Graduate, by Charles Webb.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll definitely check those out.
