This is the debate between Al Sharpton and Christopher Hitchens regarding Hitchens's latest book "God is NOT Great". This is the one where Sharpton got into trouble for basically stating that mormons were not "real christians". That aside, I found the debate interesting for many other reasons. Firstly, Sharpton is identified as an "ordained Pentecostal minister" - yet he does not defend christianity at all against Hitchens's pejorative statements about the bible in his book. Sharpton merely gives the moral argument for a generic god, focuses and criticizes only the title of the book, agrees that Hitchens criticisms of organized religion have merit, and the only theologian he mentions favorably is Paul Tillich!
The Q. and A. period is hilarious. If you get bored with the "debate", skip to the audience Q&A. - the last questioner is a famous author herself.
