Hi, can anyone help me plz analyze this poem per sentence.....thx

Leisure

What is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare?—

No time to stand beneath the boughs,
And stare as long as sheep and cows:

No time to see, when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass:

No time to see, in broad daylight,
Streams full of stars, like skies at night:

No time to turn at Beauty's glance,
And watch her feet, how they can dance:

No time to wait till her mouth can
Enrich that smile her eyes began?

A poor life this if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.

You probably don't need someone to go through it per sentence....I'm sure you can figure each individual image out, it's self explainitory.


The general message of the poem is that we are too busy, living our lives with all our cares, to notice Nature. Then the poet goes through various images of Nature's beauty that is all around us but that no one takes the time to notice anymore. The poet question what type of life this is? Can we truly say we are living to live so oblivious to the world around us?
