Hi all,
I've never read 1984.. I have heard about this novel from the general public that I've had contact with. In a way I am envious of the people who have read it before me & have already formed an opinion of it based upon what's been said to me as a result of Orwell's prediction of what life would be in 1984, from the developing technological & influencial implications upon a sociallistic histeria. (Of which is my opinion, based upon what I've been told)
Before I venture out & spend my time reading this book, could anyone tell me if there's a possibility that Orwell was predicting even further ahead of his time than 1984? If you are confused about where I'm coming from, my gut instinct tells me that 1984 is just a glitch & only a beginning. When I reminisce back to my 1984, I have images of cold war, nuclear threat, space exploration & T.V yet I feel I was still free in that era...
Yet now! Today, I feel I am not, ever since, the turn of the Millenium & Thus, being monitored 24Hrs a day.
Get this... Based upon numerology, could '1984' be converted to the year '04' by adding 1+9+8+4=22=2+2=4
I have read Arther.C.Clarke's 'The Light Of Days' & I cant help notice a similarity between the two predictons, based upon a 'Big Brother' is watching you society!
Asside from these two books, today, there is another space race to the moon in the search for Helium3 & also the possibility of another cold war! Along the way!
