Lord knows they spend just as long on their appearance as they do their poetry, so let's put this one to the vote.

What takes your fancy?

Pristinely haggard?

Designer cumerbunds?

Self-inflicted holey jumper stay-at-home?

Right of passage PHD corduroy jacket?

I choose Vladimir Mayakovsky. A terrifying-looking man in an immaculate 3 piece deserves all of our respect.

Worst dressed? Anyone with velvet trousers or a colourful waistcoat.

Lord Byron - romantic and totally hot (and super-easy too, LOL!)

Actually women were super easy for him, he was the one who leaves 'em all the time.

:( I have purple velvet trousers...I wore them during my Jimi Hendrix is a god stage...I love color.

Definetly Lord Byron!

or Oscar Wilde.

Now I have to wonder what Emily Dickenson or Maya Angelou wore. I know what T-Boz wears. I remind myself of that cartoonist Maxine but I wear floaty long dresses and lots of jewlery when I feel poetic. I am the best dressed poet in this household.
