What would you recommend?

I occasionally go to dani-web an it techie/programmer forum and I used to go to the diffence network forum (it used to be a forum for discussing military history and current events but it has become over populated with neo-nazis)

Well ..... i don't agree. When something/ someone is worth being faitfull to, you can be very immaginative ....
You are unfaithfull when you are not satisfied ....... but that's another topic:lol:

Assuming this thread is about what other forums we visit, (what is this hijacked thing about anyway) there is one quite different with the same format...it is...www.adkforum.com/ and it's about current, past and folklore information (not to mention survival) in the Adirondack Mountains of NY state. quasimodo1

Well, not as my job...yet, I've haven't completed my degree in programming yet ( I say yet, because I'm considering finishing it...)

and the military history conversations were quite interesting untill people started posting "yay Hitler he was teh uber hot mench" and the like...then it went down hill in spiralling flaming flames of hatefull comments. It got pretty bad just before I left, people were using Swastikas in their avatars and the like, so, I left, it was unfortunate that it became a nazi forum, because I do, infact, like discussing history.

It's about the upkeep, styles, and products that are geared to people with curly hair. Pretty racey huh?

I frequent a number of sailing/fishing forums. A "lifestyle" (to be discreet) forum or two. Some news/current events forums. And one ballroom dancing forum.

Papaya,

My beard is quite curly and kinky..... is there a product or procedure recommended on that other forum of yours that I could use to straighten it out?

This is basicly the only forum i go to. I joined a fanbased forum for one of my fav tv programmes and only posted one post and havent been back since. After reading some of the threads and posts that a majority of the people in the forum werent even fans and where only there to slate the programme and criticise the fans.

recently I've started to regularly post on the Humanities forum of my univ... it's a sad lot though.. there's not much going on and people only log on there to ask silly questions or flame each other...
some of them have posted their poetry... it's soooooo hilarious, it makes me feel like the greatest poet in the world as compared to them. unfortunately i can't share it with you because most of it is in German :(
oh, well.. one of them is in D-english... if you really want to read it, PM me about it..

Gamebanshee. If you are into playing games like Baldur's Gate, Morrowind etc then this is a great site. The 'Walkthroughs' are incredibly detailed and essential when you find yourself at a 'dead-end' in your game. It is an interesting site, in that it also tackles other issues, much like the issues aired on Lit/Online but also does political things too, which cannot be addressed here.

I've already said that it is an interesting site. So if you have read this far on this thread then, I'll tell you a little more. When on the forums as opposed to the help sites, you feel that you are in an intimate group. In a sense it is 'close-knit' but also polarised. There are a lot of dynamics going on in this site. It feels much smaller than Lit/Online, but that is due to Lit's multi-functionality. Gambanshee is essentially more linear. But like I said, then there are the forums. Some of the posts can be smart, some can be silly, and some can be dull and every so often one can take off and be a lot of fun: just like here. Age range like here is varied from mid-teens on up but gender wise looking at the ads on site more male oriented. However, a lot of really informed female members who I realy would not like to get into too heavy a debate with. ;) .
PS: I'm not Haven there. Got another avatar. Just playing with the fantasy. :)

I used to belong to a Tolkien forum and while I don't go there anymore, I do still go to a couple satellite sites that were started by people I met there. They are both incredibly small, just a handful of people who've known each other for a few years, both primarily British, in fact I think I'm the only American on either. We do, very occasionally, talk about Tolkien but mostly we talk about chocolate and men.

The site does RPG's, Action RPG's, MMORPG's, RPG Hybrids and Pen 'n Paper. Must admit just reloaded the first Baldur's Gate the other day and it was like going home. :). Also currently playing Fallout Tactics and Morrowind... says volumes, hmm?

That is I find hard to believe!

Chocolate - Yes.
Men - Yes.

But no women?!!!

Women talk about women more than they talk about men! :-)

Only a women can call a another women pretty.

No man will ever say another man is pretty!!! :-)

Have you played Neverwinter Nights?

Yes, it was a while ago. I think that the storyline for the original game has a certain appeal. Won't go into detail 'spoilers' etc. But thought that the graphics overall were a little disappointing. I suppose I was used to the richness of Baldur's Gate graphics and because NWN was the first game I played after the BG series, it paled a little in comparison. But NWN is a good game. Have you ever come across an amazing game, Planescape:Torment. The sheer inventiveness in terms of storyline, is well I am afraid I am going to have to say, awesome!;)

Surely not I!

GB is a good site, but I think many of the members there post questions only in the specific gaming sub-forums, so it seems hard to get to know somebody if you don't play the same games.

There is a general discussion area similiar to general chat, where you can get to know people better, but a smaller percentage of the members there post there. At least that is the way it seems to me. Along the idea of someone here who only posts in the religious texts sub-forum and no where else, it would be hard for me to get to know them since I rarely post in that section.

I also belong to two small sites for people who play and mod Dungeon Siege one and two. Modding is when gamers create their own content for the game, sort of like a plug in type of thing.

I also post on Gentle Christian Mothers- it's a site for AP parenting and non-punitive discipline.

Straight isn't boring. I used to straighten quite often until the humidity level rises then nothing can be done except go with the curl.....

It's all very complex....

I visit a lot of other gaming forums too when I get stuck on a game, but I don't automatically become a member. So at the moment I'm just on two sites. Lit and GB.
