*holding streamers, banners, and congratulatory drinks*

Congrats to kik on turning 1000! :) :D :p :-)

There's a fine line between 'hey, look at my post count!' and 'oh man, I gotta get a life' and the '1000' mark is it. Great to have you on board. ;) :)

Jay
04-26-2004, 09:08 AM

Koa
04-27-2004, 07:19 AM
LOL... I'm in a costant doubt between hurrying to get the glory :D, or slow down cos it would be the final seal on my scary need of a life... (btw, this is not the only forum where I'm clos to 1000  )

I forgot!!! Congrats to Kik and Jay!!!

04-27-2004, 07:25 AM
Hahaha. That's a good question, I gotta remember that for the thread. But for now, what other forums are you on, Koa?

Jay
04-27-2004, 10:00 AM
Hehe, cool dhm :D. There are worse things that being 900 something ;) posts behind, no one cares what's your post number anyway.

Thanks guys :D:p

Shea
04-27-2004, 10:25 AM
Congrats to Kik and Jay from me too. I'd be up there with you, but I don't have very much to procrastinate from now that that big paper is done. :p

Jay
04-27-2004, 02:18 PM
Hey Shea, there are always things you can procrastinate if you look harder ;):D:D:p

Shea
04-27-2004, 03:41 PM
lol! I thought the point of procrastinating is not looking harder! :D:p

simon
04-27-2004, 10:16 PM
Congradulations kik and jay, on this exemplary demonstration of procrastination. Now that summer is here there is plenty more time, nothing but work and sleeping.

fayefaye
04-28-2004, 05:17 AM
*suddenly very, very depressed that it is no longer summer*

emily655321
04-28-2004, 04:15 PM
*suddenly very, very depressed that it is almost summer* :p

Hey Faye, wanna switch hemispheres for the season?

simon
04-28-2004, 05:04 PM
I will gladly switch with you, or anyone for that matter just so I am not stuck here for four months in the states, with uncolourful money.

emily655321
04-28-2004, 05:16 PM
If only uncolorful money was our most displeasing characteristic. What color is your money? I don't know, I can't get used to foreign bills. I know it's money, I also know it's the most common look for money, but it still looks kind of like Monopoly money to me. I miss the old bills. The new ones are so boring. I liked all the leaves and curly-magigs.

IWilKikU
04-28-2004, 09:24 PM
I like the English pound notes. Each one is a different colour. I also like to say colour instead of color. :D. I like England. :p

Koa
04-29-2004, 04:36 PM
Yaaay one point to the OU spelling!!! My crusade in favOUr of British English goes on... :D:D:D

Hey hands off! I'm in first line for the hemispheres exchange, as my hate for summer is ancestral!!!

*wonders if she's making sense, and wonders why she's posting crap when she doesnt want to get to 1000 soon...but there's some force that makes me post...and post...and post....*

emily655321
04-29-2004, 10:21 PM
LoL Koa! *resists the urge to post a response* *fails miserably*

I'm in favOr of RE instead of ER spellings, but I think U should keep it's butt out of it. :D Sometimes when I write in cursive or lower case (I'm an all-caps printer), I add an E to the end of words that shouldn't have one, just to make them soft and comfy looking.

amuse
04-29-2004, 10:41 PM
that's so funny, i've noticed lately i've been unconsciously adding "e's" to words as well, like downe comforter, and towne hall. then my boyfriend e-mailed me and he spelled downe the same way! :D lol.
how's about yoghurt vs. yogurt? ;)

emily655321
04-29-2004, 11:38 PM
Yoghurt, all the way. Even though I think it's incorrect. It has that soft round look to it. :D Isn't there a Monty Python sketch like that? Like... something about the upper class playing crochet and debating which words were nice and which were "tinny." The sad thing is, I totally know what they mean. I'll have to hit google and find a transcript of the episode -- there are ppl who spend all their time transcribing Python for the net. I wonder if there's any money in that?

[EDIT] I remembered it, it took hours but I remembered how to spell "croquet." LMAO Crochet doesn't sound like such a fun sport, although I'm sure there are some grannies who disagree with me. :D

i love that you guys feel that way about the language...i personally love modifying it in my own way to suit my needs. as i have mentioned on another thread, i love the "ish" and "y" endings...like pretty-ish and thing-y.
i also seem to have an irresistable urge to constantly use elipses incorrectly...i just cant help myself.

fayefaye
04-30-2004, 07:14 AM
I invent words because language lacks what could be more easily expressed by sound or facial expression. Plus, nobody ever gets me anyway.

Shea
04-30-2004, 01:34 PM
I'm learning that this love of words and making them up is what inspired Tolkein. He was really good with them!

Where did AP go?

I miss that man with 2000 (or more) books..?!

And where did Crisaor go?

O gee, I feel like repeating Stan's post about the good old members...

Don't get sentimental and go reverie on us.

IWilKikU
05-03-2004, 07:04 PM
The fact of the matter is that members come (yay), and members go (boo). Sometimes you have to write of a classic member as 'lost'. :( . AP has been showing up, but its been few and far between. My guess is that his huge brain just got tired of going to the same site every day. He's still around from time to time, but don't expect him every day.

No sweat Cris...yes I noticed that AP is still around..well at leats my PMs are still being replied by him.

We should make a "poester of the month" thread..so that people would feel encouraged to post and stay around..

Koa
05-07-2004, 03:37 PM
well I don't feel this place lacks liveliness...the opposite! Everytime I'm here I'd never leave cos there's so much to answer to!!! :):):)
Though the poster of the month thing is not a bad idea... :)

I felt this was an appropriate place to put

...my 1000th post!

Congratulations NOT in order. It was wayyy too easy to achieve. ;) I'll get back to you when I hit 1,000,000. :D On that note, and mainly for the purpose of avoiding making a mark of this post -- perhaps an award thread for the person with the *smallest* ratio of posts per day? I don't know how you micro-posters manage, but I have only the utmost respect for your self-control. :D

Koa
05-07-2004, 04:57 PM
LOL, I join that respect...*1 minute of silence*

I noticed that yesterday you had 999, vbm... 999 is sooo cooool too! :D

Congrats! May you have hundreds of these days! :D (therefore thousands of posts :D)

(sudden question: do you think there is a forum somewhere in the world where there's someone who has an insane number of posts, gathered in years of addiction...like 10000 posts or so???)

emily655321

thank you Jay. i dont know why i was looking for people to congratulate me on the outward manifestation of a terrible addiction. i have more work to do in the next two days than could reasonably be done in a whole week, (:brickwall ) and yet, here i am...replying to posts...almost sick with the feeling of time closing in on me. i am such a butthead.

thank you, Koa!!! wanted to right "thankee" like in some old novel, but wasn't sure anyone'd get it. :D
guess what, i officially love this banana!

...i knew from the time i was twelve i wanted a different name - my old one didn't fit, kind of like poorly tailored clothes. in december '89 i decided on the first name and in April '90 the last (don't have a middle anymore). went to the campus legal center, and learned how to do it for free.
i had to change my california state identifcation first (forget what it entailed), then go to social security administration with that card and [two - ? pieces of] mail addressed to me in my new name. Voila! same number, new (and proper) set of clothes. :)
interesting side note: to get pennsylvania identification , i had to get a driver's license because they wouldn't give state id with the name change. terrfied, never-will-drive-in-her-life-me.

Jay
06-10-2004, 10:29 AM
Denial of feelings you say, Simon? What about denying your aversion to the cute banana thingy? Aversion is a feeling, too. Or you mean denying feelings in animated versions? Why should one deny feelings? Don't you think it would be a little well, dull reading all the posts with not an emoticon to lighten the mood? Or you think lightening the mood is a big nono on forums? I don't get you, sure, you can dislike smilies or emoticons or what are they called today ;) but you might think about taking the others into consideration. For the sake of the argument let's say 20 members enjoy using the colorful things you obviously despise. Well, wouldn't it be a little odd banning those because of one member who's against them? If you don't like them, don't use them. It's really getting a little annoying everytime I read again you don't like smilies. Get over with it. We know that. Fine, don't use them, no one's making you to do anything you wouldn't like, just bare in mind there are people who consider the smilies nice and really like them.
(done ranting for now ;))

simon

It would indeed be hard to follow through and actually use the new name, because our original one is like permantly burned into our brain from birth.
I would find it hard to do. But good luck! (as I see it is the custome to end with him).

Jay, i dont know u stay in dorm ...

Jay
11-08-2004, 06:49 AM
Well, as I'd be commoting over 300kms everyday (and that would be only one way, make it 600... 624kms exactly I think... it's just impossible :)) I had no other option left. IF I get to the second year I'd most probably won't even have a place at dorms sure as there's more students asking for dorms than the university has.

subterranean

So they're going to kick you out next year :D? I dont know how it feels to live in dorms..I spend most of my life living in my own house. Adding up to a thousand.
The amount of time wasted on the net
Surely totally irrelevant!

Today reached four thousand
Burning with the proud geek glow;
