I have a symbolism project, "Character in a bag". I need to choose a character, Im stuck between Mollie and Boxer, and have 7-10 symbols to represent the character and the symbols must be in a bag that is also representitive of the character. For Boxer, Im thinking having a children's ABC book (lack of intellegence) and put it in a potato sack. I need some symbols for Boxer's reliability on a leader, his naive nature, his gullibility, and his hardwork. For Mollie, I'm thinking in a Prada bag put maybe some caviar (self-indulgence), Train ticket (her escaping) and I really need more ideas. I only have two days to finish this project...and I desperately need help:bawling:

Boxer wasn't really a leader, more an example through his strength and endurance. Possibly an anvil to cover that.
Naivety - a baby's pacifier. Boxer's worrisome thoughts were able to be quelled with a quick, "Comrade Napoleon is always right."
Gullibility, a copy of News of the World? The newspaper which brings out cases of women who have given birth to fish, alien landings and abductions, etc.? If Napoleon said it, Boxer believed it. Some people treat that, .... um, ... publication, the same way.
For Boxer also, a double-thickness horseshoe - to cope with the tremendous prssure he puts on himself, and maybe a straw - for the last tiny effort which broke him - the straw which broke the camel's back symbolism.
Another couple for Mollie - you'd have to have a ribbon, mirror and mascara - vanity. You could use a dandelion seed - capriciousness and maybe a weather-vane, she always goes where she will be best off, which then leads to something for her selfishness. I have to go, so I'll let you figure one out for that!
Good luck!

My dear non-believer: You have left me in the dust of ignorance regarding this particular question. Have literary studies changed so much? I couldn't even identify the genre you're working on so forget about insight from this end. I wouldn't even know how to tell you where to research it and I'm pretty good at research, from card catalog to computer. Let me just wish you a kinder, more inspired re-incarnationn, preferably as a Yale Lit PHD. quasimodo1

What on earth are you talking about?
A question was asked and I've given an answer which seems to fit. I have no idea where you're coming from.
