I came across this interesting poem/riddle recently but it seems hard to get the right answer. Anyone can help me out?

This riddle consists of 11 lines which originally were in random order. I tried to sort them as following to make better sense but I could be wrong so feel free to re-sort them. It's also said the riddle has two proper answers. (the answer i came up with is "telescope"/"binoculars" but I was told they are wrong)

As the road is filled with flaws
or riddled with grooves
it can be smooth
when you have nothing else to choose
and is sometimes the most efficient to use
It can take you to the mountain up high
but not close enough to touch the sky
even though you feel like you could fly
But this feeling is false
and gives us just cause
to be more aware and have laws

Thank you in advance for your help! :yawnb:

suicide. The best choice bit, and the flying really are what makes me think it is leaning towards suicide.

I reordered it a bit:

***
As the road is filled with flaws
it can be smooth
or riddled with grooves
and is sometimes the most efficient to use
when you have nothing else to choose

It can take you to the mountain up high
but not close enough to touch the sky
even though you feel like you could fly

But this feeling is false
and gives us just cause
to be more aware and have laws

***

I think it's drugs. Mainly because of the "false feeling" and the "just cause to have laws."
