Do you have a preference?
What do you think are the pros and cons?
I don't believe I have been in many independant bookstores, if ever. But from what I remember seeing in some movies, they are the small stores...with a nice atmosphere. I would imagine I would like the less crowded place like that, more quiet, better service possibly. But I am thinking a larger franchise bookstore probably has more selection, and a better chance of having the book I am looking for.

It's true: it isn't as crowded with customers, but there isn't much room for that anyway. There's a good chance that the staff are published authors. There's a lot of great literary conversations. If you're looking for something, you will have a better chance going to a franchise, but you'll find some treasures at indies. I've gotten some good first editions at the indies.
