I am new to this site, but have been looking for a place where I can set up a discussion forum for my senior English students to discuss the books we are reading (or about to read) in class. I used this sort of thing on Facebook, and the students responded very favorably, but I was hoping to find something a little more literary, where they might even stumble across new books of interest, and maybe even have other folks join in the discussion. Am I in the right place to do this? Would I just start a new thread and tell my student how to get here, set up accounts, etc? Any advice on this would be welcome.
BTW, some books we'll be discussing include Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress (Sijie), Running in the Family (Ondaatje), various English poets, esp. Blake, Wordworth, Yeats, Wide Sargasso Sea (Rhys), The 10th Man (Greene), and some others I'm still deciding on.

Welcome to the Forum, Coltrane! :)

We have already some teachers who use the Forum for class discussions. If you would like to start a thread in the relevant section, your students can start posting as soon as they open their accounts (you can mention the name of your school in the thread title to prevent any confusion if you like).

If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact one of our Moderators. (http://www.online-literature.com/forums/showthread.php?t=19944)

Good luck! :)
