View Full Version : Poetry Request
My Grandparents are having their 50th wedding aneversary next week. As a surprise for them we would like to have a poem made for them. Unfortunately we are having trouble finding a poet to write the poem. I was wondering if there were any poets here who would be willing to undertake this challenge, or indeed would know a poet who would be willing to do this at such short notice.
I would be most thankful for anyone willing to do this.
Regards,
Alex

Step back! The professional has arrived. I have spent many an hour pondering upon a masterpiece to mark this event, and look forward with glee to hearing how my poem recital went (Possibly including a video of the event to compensate my hard work)
Pop, dear pop, I love you more than pop (pun)
I think of you always, except when I drop my pop (pun again)
To you I will run skip and hop
Dear pop
Nan, dear nan (coincides with 1st verse) I love you more than ham
I think of you always, except when I drink my 'pop' ;) from a can
To you, quickly I ran
Dear nan
Pop and Nan, dear Pop and Nan
You used to be a cop, she used to be a man (not really but creative juice allows it)
So enjoy your anniversary, whilst eating lamb and drinking pop
And think to write you this poem, I must love you both alot
Although I usually sell the rights to my masterpieces, on this occasion I feel it appropriate to give my work for you to use as your own, althought a small monetary contribution would be grand
? Do you realise that that request was posted over one year ago???
Is this a joke by the way?
I feel confused...

Joke? Joke?! JOKE?!!!! (repitition for emphasised effect)
Classics such as mine are adaptable, it can be used for the 51st anniversary. And you call yourself a poet.. thats ignorance Koa, I would not call your poetry a joke, expect a call from my lawyers.
well I was referring to the general atmosphere which I cant understand if it's meant to be taken seriously. Anyway responding to a post of someone who has never posted again since 1 year ago is not that productive... at least for the original request.
And I stopped considering myself anything close to a poet anyway.

MoreHomeworkPlz, you should not post your poetry on a public forum if you do not welcome criticism; literary criticism, especially, seems entirely inevitable with sharing.
You mentioned the copyright placed on your work, so expecting a "call from lawyers" proves unnecessary, as no one has plagiarized your work, or committed any crime.
Kind of thinking/hoping MoreHomeworkPlz meant it as a joke.

Well actually MoreHomeworkPlz has directly insulted a few people with their posts, veiled in `humour' or not.
" ..you insolent fool.."
"..your ignoranus attempt.."
MoreHomeworkPlz, I'm going to ask you once, now, to cease and desist with any further insults or your posts will have to be deleted.

Yes, people attempting "humour" should realize that some "jokes" are not always "funny."
