It says at the begining that we can guess why the other person chose that word? oh boy, this should be fun!

^Chose 'laptop' because the first word he/she saw was the one at the top, 'desk', thus she thought 'desktop', then 'laptop' :D

Also there might have been a sublimital association with 'desk'. Desk/paper you know?
