my real name is shirley.
im retired ...but dont like that word.lets say i stopped working at something i'd been doing for a long time.
i was a health worker in the uk and when it got too much ..left..and went to university in Lampeter as a mature student to read literature...which had always been my first passion anyway...
Always been keen on greek myths i took a holiday to turkey to see some places associated with mythology....and never went home.
So now i live in Turkey..in a place called antakya..which was once known as antioch...sorry for the lack of capitals..im also very lazy.
i like the works of James Joyce ..Dickens...everybody really..too many authors to write them all down...i also glean comfort from other people's words..quotes poems etc..
ive been teaching myself turkish for the last 12 years..the amount of time ive been here..it helps to live with a young turkish man who doesnt speak english...i now and then teach basic turkish to expats who have moved here..it makes me sound busy byut im not..as i said im basically lazy..well bodily lazy but my mind thankfully keeps on turning.
im sure there's more to me than this short piece..maybe i will give some more thought to it!...but for now i'm pleased to have found this lovely forum.
