Even one like myself who writes sonnets everyday,
Might find it somewhat hard to know the right words;
After all, when you don’t know someone what do you say—
“Hello, I’m, Pen. I hear they call you Zanna.” Sounds discord.
Hey, I’m glad to meet you, I’ll bet you are so nice,
If you write poetry, come visit the threads, I’d love to hear one,
You’ve probably heard of me before now once or twice,
Uncle to the younger generation, a friend to anyone.
I write the poems, the world LitNet reads them,
They make their comments, sometimes I take a bow—
Sometimes there’s sorrow, in the lines that I’ve written,
And if I bring tears to your eyes, I didn’t mean to anyhow.
Today is so special, for a tender flower growing up in a world so cruel:
Zanna, I write these lines just to say: Happy Birthday to you…
