My computer has bugs that Norton anti virus isn't fixing. I believe some of it is adware or spyware. It keeps reinstalling itself in my programs and changes my homepage. Also an end program window comes up everytime I log off, program name, rundll32.exe. I installed a free spyware program called Spybot. It found stuff, but I don't know what is safe to delete. Or does anyone know of a program I can use? Any advice is appreciated. You can also email me.

Cheers,
Lara

Does the Spybot site have a feedback forum? I use Lavasoft's Adaware and their site has great support forums for questions exactly like you're asking.

I use Netscape 7.0 so I can completely eliminate pop-ups with it, but I know there are pop-up killer apps out there. You can search tucows for popup blockers...

Also, if there is a `quarantine' feature after doing a scan with Spybot, you can do this and if there is any interuption you can `un' quarantine them.

do you have a firewall? the guys at msn helped me run the commands and get one in my comp. a lot of my friends use mcaffee (sp?) software, but it can be a bit of a hassle at first

Hey Guys!

I tried system restore as far back as April 1. Don't know why I didn't think of it sooner. Seems to have corrected the problems. I am still going to figure out that spyware because it found lots of stuff. Thanks to all.

Cheers,
Lara

which means?

it means they have a hole, an opening in the code of the program that allows the creator of the program, or a clever youngster like myself to use the information you unwillingly submit to the program upon subscription or installation to slip in anything i want. it could be anything from spywear to a hydra into your system without you even knowing what's going on...i hope you do your taxes by hand ;)

Dude, once I fought a hydra, and every time I chopped off one of its' heads, another grew in its place. So I got my nephew, Iolaus, to burn the stumps as soon as I chopped the heads off, and that kept them from reproducing. It's ninth head was immortal though and I couldn't kill it so I buried it under a big rock in a swamp. True story.

No one likes a script kiddie.

what's that?

A script kiddie is a wanna-be. A poser. Real hackers create easy to use programs that can hack into someone's unsecured system when an exploit is known. A script kiddie is a little highschool or middle-schooler who uses these programs, with no real knowledge of how they work.

Whats worse is one who lies about it.
