So, recently I compiled a book list based off of a couple of simlpe facts. They being, Utopia/Dystopia books, Occult Books, Thought provoking books, ancient philosphy, and just a few at random. Here goes in no specific order, although if you have one feel free to recommend it to me.

Fatherland, Battlefield Earth: Saga of the Year 3000, A Clockwork Orange, Alice in Wonderland, The Prince, Seize the Day, Catch-22, The Catcher in the Rye, The Time Machine, The Republic, 15,000 Useful Phrases, Beowulf, Don Juan.

Another thing, I just recently got done reading the Abridged version of Count of Monte Cristo(I plan on buying and reading, yes reading ;), the un abridged version) and I absolutely loved the way Alexandre Dumas wrote. It was totally new and mysterious to me. I would love to know of some other similar books from the same era. Any thoughts?

Thanks, Adras.

Adras,

Check out The Three Musketeers (Les Trois Mousquetaires).

The Valois Romances are also worth reading, i.e. La Dame De Monsoreau.

Out of your list, I liked Catcher in the Rye, Catch-22 and was ambivalent towards The Prince. A Clockwork Orange was a worthwhile film.

The books in your list remind me of:

The Sparrow - Mary Doria Russell
China Mountain Zhang - Maureen McHugh
Fahrenheit 451 - Ray Bradbury
The Giver - Lois Lowry
The Long Walk - Stephen King
Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? - Philip K. Dick
Animal Farm - George Orwell
We - Yvegny Zemyatin
Camp Concentration - Thomas Disch
Ghostwritten - David Mitchell
The Iron Dragon's Daughter - Michael Swanwick
The Dispossessed - Ursula Le Guin
Trouble With Lichen - John Wyndham
The Perks of Being a Wallflower - Stephen Chbosky
Birdsong - Sebastian Faulks
Damnation Alley - Roger Zelazny
Only Forward - Michael Marshall Smith
More Than Human - Theodore Sturgeon
Gateway - Frederik Pohl
