Ideas for theme of Silence and Lies

Anyone got any ideas on books for this fairly general theme? A few short stories would be great, but plays and novels also accepted. And poetry!

Like you said, the theme is too general but you mean stories like 'The Gift of The Magi' by O'Henry?

you mean silence and lies together in one work? i don't know try for silence (the heart is a lonley hunter) by Carson McCullers , it is a story about two mutes.i don't know if that helps.:)

Well thank you. Not sure what tone to adopt on this forum, don't know if you guys are winding me up or not. I think the idea would be stories of deceipt and misunderstanding. A play such as Othello perhaps. OH MY G! I've just realised the theme is Secrets and Lies.
