The first president of the Russian Federation died on April 23rd. He acted towards ending the Soviet era and renewed the country during his presidency. The First Chechen War was also fought during his term. His career was shadowed by corruption accusations, use of alcohol and the health problems he experienced.

Rest in Piece.

I really liked Yeltsin, albeit a flawed person. Of all the Russian leaders from Gorbachev on, I get the feeling that the only one who really understood freedom was Yeltsin. Yes, Rest In Peace.

Agreed. My glass is raised to freedom this evening. Peace be yours, Boris

Yeltsin, despite of his flaws, is still our favourite Russian leader.
Without him the Baltic countries road to independence and freedom would have been much more difficult.

Rest In Peace, Boris Yeltsin.
