Thank you all!

I finished reading whuthering heights by Emily Bronte last night.
it's a story about love and revenge. It revolves around the passion that Catherine and Heathcliff felt for each other. These passions run extremely deep and intense. These passions are normal, everyday ones ¨C love, hate, affection, contempt and revenge.

Would you like to discuss with me further about it here or to write to my e-mail: [email protected]?

Welcome yu. If i was you I would begin a seperate thread specifically on Wuthering Heights--that way you might get more responses.

In the meantime....... How did you feel about Heathcliffe? Wronged victim issuing justice or bitter sadist taking revenge? For myself, at first I was saying "All right! Go Heathcliffe!" and then he started to go too far it seemed and I was kinda prejudiced against him from then onwards.

Yes, I agree with you completely, he goes too far so that I would say he¡¯s an venomous avenger. Cathy, daughter of Catherine and Edgar is person I take sympathy on.

I had trouble sticking to Wuthering Heights because of Heathcliffe's lack of appeal, he was inadvertantly frustrating beyond my ability to cope with.

I feel such a mixture of hate and love for wuthering heights that i really dont know what i think about it.... really hated it at first, then the more i talked about it at lessons or even with friends, i started to undertsand more but at the same time to feel more and more irritated by it... I need to re-read it!

To mention something irrelevant to this forum. I heard that keyboard and mouse do harm to us seven times that display does, is it true?! I can¡¯t imagine it.

What do you mean "display"? It seems everything can do "harm" nowadays. Like I have the age to say nowadays.

i am guessing that by display you are referring to the monitor and the negative effects: the ones that they espouse for eyesight and so on. I don't know which is true. personally i have no visible letters left on my keyboard, from excessive amounts of typing, but i have no carpal tunnel or disjointed fingers. i do, however, need glasses now that i really didnt need before i got the computer. so.........
my jury is still out. show me a study.

There are theories and studies about possible damage to people from electromagnetic fields and radiation emissions from computer monitors (and televisions and cell phones, living near hydro-electric plants etc etc.. ) and proximity being one of them so while you're sitting at a computer so much it makes sense. Don't you remember your grandmother admonishing you from sitting too close to the tv because the X-rays would melt your brain and eyes? :p

I've never heard of this kind of concern from the mouse or keyboard, but it does extend from the same theory I suppose that your hands/wrists etc. are absorbing this energy and there is little historical empirical data to know what the effects are... yet.

I read Wuthering Heights as part of my High-school English literature. I remembered liking it at the time - I liked the dark, brooding atmosphere of it.

Last December I caught up with an old flame whom I had not seen for nearly a decade. She brought up Wuthering Heights in comparison with our own relationship: she likened us to Heathcliff and Catherine.

So I read the book again.

This time I didn't like it. The characters all seemed a bit too "cliched" to me - they are all caricatures. There was nothing wrong with the characters that a good hard slapping wouldn't have set straight. What a bunch of self-centred whingers!

Admittedly the "passion" element was still interesting - and the forays into the metaphysical were well done; certainly kept me interested in the book. But on the whole - it's just an old English soap opera. Nothing special to me.

... and I vehemently disagree with my ex-flame's analogy.

Sorry, I didn¡¯t make myself understood, I mean that keyboard and mouse do harm to us seven times that monitor (for ¡°XianShiQi¡± in Chinese) does for their radiation. J. There maybe some spelling and grammatical errors in my sentences since my native language is Chinese instead of English. Your correction for them is welcome and highly appreciated. Thank you! I gotta agree. Actually, I should read it again too before I respond, but what the hell. I loved Heathcliff -- I wanted to smack whiney little Cathy too. Like, "Oh, I love you -- now I'm marrying for money -- now I love you again -- now I won't speak to you in public -- Oh, why are you angry, woe is poor little me!" I don't condone domestic violence, but I would say Heathcliff's biggest problem was not being able to ditch the little piece of fluff. :D

IWilKikU, Not Black Sea. Baku is situated along by the Caspian Sea, where our main riches is - "black gold" (oil). They say the boulevard of Baku is the longest one in the world. But I'm not quite sure.
Please, IWil, don't mention about Armenia any more-
