Has anyone read Sigrid Undset's trilogy Kristin Lavransdatter, a historical novel that takes place in medieval Norway? I learned of it when I was doing some reading about Norway about a year ago. I have heard many good things about it, but haven't tackled it yet due to its large size (over a thousand pages in total).

I did a search and couldn't find any discussion on this, and was curious about whether it was a good read, and any other thoughts on it.

Thank you very much!

It is sitting right here on my desk, one of my nobler aspirations, but as yet not even started. Nobel Prize winner at that!
The plot summary I have seen suggests to me that it is a 'slow' novel, which is why I have it, but may not be to everybody's taste.
Some day I will get started.

Yea, it certainly seems slow! I read the first few pages at the bookstore, and it does look like it will be very good. The nice thing is that it's in 3 volumes, so I could always take a break after reading one of them.

I think I will start this one in the summer.

As I understand it, that would get you one-third of the way through her life.
