I'm trying to find some inspiration to start writing again,
I want to enter this poetry competition,
10 lines minimum, including stanza breaks,
about any subject,
but how can I, I don't really want to use any of my old poems (except a few)
but I want something fresh,
anysuggestions?

I'm no Expert, but
Poetry should come from your
most random Feelings.
Exploring your most
random Feelings, Thoughts, and Self
will help you create.
Finally, please keep
in Mind that good Writing is
Rewriting; Good Luck!

Uncle Lar, it seems that Death Angel has explored his or her feelings already. So more exploration of the inner self won't help.
I think one way to get inspiration, Death Angel, is to go out and speak and listen to people, and check your reactions to them and their feelings. You may also have a look at the news if you want to write about current issues. If that's not in your line you might try and fall in love...

DeathAngel try to do something whcih inspires you. If you like nature go out and connect with it. If enjoy music listen to your faverite songs and write down wahat moves you, jot down random ideas on a journal, notebook or just a piece of paper. You'll end up with awesome peoms.
(or just try wrtiting something when you're in the middle of extreme emotion: like extreme happiness or sorrow.)

Sorry to break the 'feeling' spree, but do all poems necessarily have to be about feeling? My favourite ones, like 'The Raven', 'Zu Beruhigung' and 'The Road not Taken', don't have much to do with emotions. 'The Raven' sure, has feeling, and a climax as well, but is mainly an incredibly flowing piece of poetry, with superb musicality, created by alliteration and constant and creative rhymes. 'Zu Beruhigung' (from Heinrich Heine) has an audacious, satirical tone to it. 'The Road not Taken' is about decisions in life. And so on, and so on.
All I'm saying is, if you aren't in 'the zone' to write poetry about feelings (which is all too abundant), try your hand at other kinds. Concentrate mainly on the form, or choose a subject you would like to satirize, or just choose a topic with which everyone can relate to without having to do with emotions, rather life itself and our journey in this strange world.
Good luck :)

What is there not to write about? Describe a bird, a flower, a town, a trip. You spoke of feelings, that's a whole ball field right there: Love, Pleasure, Hate, Pain, Sorrow, Regret. Invent something that isn't real and bring it to life in your poem. Eulogize someone. You have favorite things, tell us about them. Plenty to write about! http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l108/AbsalomKane/Smilies/Shades.gif

As my professor would word it:
"Show. Don't tell."
Good luck with your competition :).
