I am conscious only in a haphazard way. There are no words to describe the hidden chasms buried deep below the skin. Or, if you prefer, you will not be able to decipher my message or discover what I am all about. My kind have passed into the catacombs and fell under the spell of many years of dwelling in dust before finally seeking the light rumored to come from above. The only way we are identified is by a mesmeric gaze pouring out from behind the eyes. Nobody knows how long we have been around. We no longer have any concept of time. There is, however, a strong concept of place among us. We are rooted and tethered to the earth like the winds are tethered to the oceans. Our names have become obscured by the plethora of languages to pass and return to the nations. There is no activity guided by human hands that have not been known to us. Sometimes we dream of becoming human...TBC...
