CAn anyone help me, does anyone know how dr t j ekcelburg as a symbol relates to the theme the decline of the american dream?

It could be that since eckleburg's lifeless eyes were representing the "dead" God, less people believed or relied on God and He is looking down at the moral decay that the world was becoming. That might be completly wrong but you could see if it works.

In the novel, the American Dream has lost it's meaning. Success is no longer about doing you best, it's about having the most money. Which, is the corruption of the American Dream. Those who don't have money, or who got it in the wrong way are scruitinized and outcasted.
