Hello everyone. I am new to this site. I am hoping someone can give me some ideas on writing a research-based college paper for American Literature. I am bilingual, so sometimes what I want to express in my writings do not necessarity capture the whole picture of what i really wanted to say. English is difficult to learn indeed, never mind literature.

Anyway, I would really appreciate it if someone could suggest some ideas on a paper about 6-7 pages in length. I have taken American Literature I and II already. Some of the themes I am interested in discussing are - the coming of age, romanticism, the American Dream, .... ~trambeline

honours deˌgree [countable]
a British university degree that is above the basic level in one or two particular subjects
first/second/third class honours degree
joint honours degree (=a degree in two main subjects)

well, I dunno what an honours paper is, but if it has anything to do with an honours degree, doesn't that mean you're supposed to be "above the basic level"?
which means you are old enought to find your own topic or ask your professor to give you one?
Well, I'll refrain from further rudeness, seeing as you will probably never return to read it anyway:)
good luck with your paper

sheesh, you need not be so stuck up! I was only uncertain about what to write. As goes with the saying: if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all, because i find your comment really offensive. Anyway, I already got something in mind to write of as of now. Thanks for nothing.

"Coming of age" is dull and common to all cultures in one form or another, so why don't you start from the premise that the "American Dream" is to be romantic?

You see, I'm sure Sleepy didn't mean to be offensive concerning you as a person. But since this is a huge and busy place, a certain number of users register here only to write a post entitled 'HEEEEELP', reproduce the exact task the teacher gave them, with another urgent plead at the end of their post, and then disappear to where they came from and indeed never show up again.
It would be a better plan and would contribute more to the idea of this forum to come here with the topic you came up with yourself and collect some ideas for your paper from the discussion you are having with other members giving their ideas on your topic, if you want them to.

Anyway, I'm interested: What is it you have in mind now ? :)

yep that's exactly what I meant :D

er, why don't you ask your professor/tutor about it?
i mean I dunno how it's done over there, but over here professors usually hand out a list of topics to pick from. if they don't you can see them in their office hours and ask them to give you an essay question.
