Not much of a poetry person, which is why I'm not ashamed to post this:

Value of a Smile

You ask me why I never smile;
I tell you because it will lose value.
Like when shoes attack porcelain tile.
Marred and marked our opulent tile grew.

Yet for you I had always grinned,
But your bright eyes could not see it always.
Clouds blown in by an unknown wind
Blocked my grateful smile from your strong gaze.

Farther and farther we grew apart.
Though it was not you who had walled the light,
Your leaving me blackened my heart;
You abandoned me on a moonless night.

If only I had shown one last smile,
Our love could have burned; life made worthwhile.

I don't have a title for this one:

Smile, the faces, worn and torn, hapless;
Desperate, seeking help and happiness;
Positive, never stop, never falter;
Ambitious, the eyes of the defeated

Not having seen such determination
Pain and sadness forever surrender,
No fence can contain the undying hope;
Down falls the curtain of despair and death

Simple, the lives in which the faces live;
Devoted, grueling work, meager reward;
Painful, with voiceless acceptance they strive;
Anxious, the minds of overwhelmed many

Sinning themselves all into damnation;
Refusing men forgiveness of blunder;
Tarnished, their reputation, vain is soap;
Worthless is life until the final breath
