I really enjoy mysteries of all kinds. Currently I am re-reading The Mother Hunt by Rex Stout. This features Stout's famous detective... a genius, somewhat of a misogynist, extremely dry witted and acerbic character. He is a gourmand and grower of orchids, solver of crimes. He is Nero Wolfe and I think he's great.

Stout first introduced Wolfe in the novel Fer-de-Lance released in 1934.

Wolfe quotes:

I carry this fat to insulate my feelings. They got too strong for me once or twice and I had that idea. If I had stayed lean and kept moving around I would have been dead long ago

I really used to be into detective stories some years ago, but now Wolfe's one of the few I still like today, I think mostly because of the funny relationship between him and his assistant, Goodwin.
Actually I keep rereading Stout's novels once in a while when I want to just relax and have fun.

I love mysteries too! I love watching them more though and Nero Wolfe is fantastic. there was an adaptation of sort on BBC 2 and I loved the character. not read anything though. I love the monk too.

Thank you both for responding. I think I have read almost all of the Nero Wolfe books, and I also like re-reading them. Wolfe is just so fun, I love his character. ( I think he would give me such a glare just for saying that.)

Opti, we had a few televised episodes of Wolfe over here too, and they were pretty good. I have to say that the books are superior. If you can find them at the library and you have the time, I would encourage you to read them.
