SOLDIER’S MOM
The time draws close the time draws near.
They’re sending my son far away from here.
I’m the mom of a soldier, now that he has to go,
Don’t ask if I regret my decisions on how I vote.
Our country is safer than it was on that day,
Two towers came down; over three thousand lives taken away.
Can’t turn the clock back. Pretend it didn’t happen, you know it did.
What were you doing when the two planes hit?
The third plane and its passengers, the Pentagon too,
People jumping, dying, there was nothing we could do.
We all watched in stunned silence, we knew there was no going back.
Someone has to leave; someone has to go, to keep us safe from future terrorist attacks.
So don’t burden me with your what ifs and your doubts,
Believe what want, just don’t say it out loud.
I don’t want to hear, you’re not supporting my son,
Or the others that are fighting until this war is one day won.
Until our troops have pulled out and our men are all safe,
They need our backing so keep your thoughts in they’re place.
Negative words are not needed to be heard by family or friends,
Of solders prepared to die, so America can win.
I’m proud of my son and the man he’s become,
He’ll be fighting for our country; he’ll fight until it’s done.
I’m proud he’s standing by the decisions he made,
He’s an Infantry solder, he’ll be in harms way.
But with all praying here, and God watching his back,
He’ll be protected from all enemy attacks.
I’ll be quite honest, it’s so hard not cry,
When I think many have been hurt, many have died.
The choice to serve was their own, so respect it please,
To fight for our country, to possibly bleed.
We will all rest, knowing 9/11 hasn’t happened again,
We haven’t had to watch more people die on CNN.
Lord bring him home safe, let him come home safe and sound,
I just want him home soon on American ground.
So agree or not, still support our troops,
It will help keep them going, the red, white and blue.
I’m the mom of a solder, that’s going far away,
God bring him back to me, to wipe my tears and fears away.
Proud Mom
