Hello friends, I have been researching pirates over the last few days, no particular reason, and thought I would ask you guys about pirates. Movies, books, stories.
Pirating is in my blood, My lots of great's uncle was a pirate, he even owned a castle, which he had to give up because he got frisky with some nuns. , He was primarily involved in the slave trade, but he once atempted to take on the british man of war, He was succsesful in being shot, but he got away, and after healing up, kept on pirating until he died. He was hung after in a failed kidnapping attempt on a nobel mens daughter, the nobelman had a gun, and shot him, he was hung shortly after.
Or at least that is how the story goes.

I thought Pirates of the Caribbean was by far the worst movie I have seen Johnny Depp do. It will forever take its place (in my book) as just another pop action movie with bad one liners.

the pirates would never hear the ninjas coming. they are stealth like. they would not have time to draw there guns before there throats were cut.
i don't believe i am having this conversation.

I would normally go with ninjas in a heartbeat, but on the docks? That's pirate turf. So I'm going to have to say, pirates at sea (or on the docks), ninja's everywhere else.
GO NINJAS!

I take it that none of you have pirate relations?
Any how, pirates would kill the ninjas, ninjas fight with honour, pirates fight for fun.

I vote for talking like pirates like Faye said.
SHIVER ME TIMBERS!
Stan, did you find anything that had to do with privateering? It was legal, but it's where piracy stemmed from.
Also did you know that your Avatar is the flag of the pirate John "Calico Jack" Rackham? It's the same as the Jolly Roger, only that one has bones instead of swords. Personally, I think that Calico Jack's looks more threatening.
The Pirate that would really intimidate me is Blackbeard, what with the smoking head and all.
Oh, I just realized you have Jack Rackham's name above your flag.:o Stupid me!

He is kind of a personal hero to me, like batman, but a pirate instead.
I also found out about privateering (SP) for the crown. That would be a pretty cool job.
Morgans is also pretty threataning, A devil skeleton stabbing a heart with a spear thing, But I thought jacks looked pretty cool, the swords were a message that he was willing to fight anyone.

I thought that was Blackbeard's flag. Or was that the same person?
A girl in my Brit Lit course gave a presentation about privateering yesterday and said that 98% of all pirates started as privateers or some other honest sailor job. So goes the sea I guess.:p

Having seen Pirates of the Caribean I'll just say my first instinct after leaving the theatre was to send out the Ninja beacon and have the Ninja destroy Hollywood. The movie rated a single star to the forehead. AArrrrr matey...

Cutthroat Island was a better pirate movie indeed.

I dug Pirates of the Caribbean:
Jack Sparrow – “Ah may ‘ave deserved that.”
Heh heh
Don’t know much about pirates except what I’ve read in the recent popular book, “Under the Black Flag.” Twas a rollicking good time. Also last year Smithsonian magazine had a good article on Black Beard. Is there any truth to the rumor that Black Beard’s headless body swam around the ship three times before sinking?
Ahhrrrr.

I would seriously doubt it.

For a good pirate movie and a fair adaptation--see Errol Flynn's Captain Blood (by Rafael Sabatini). Only quibble I have with the film vs novel--in the book Blood takes on the Spanish--in the movie strongly implies any one that comes along. Advance personal bias--Captain Blood is a favorite book of mine these 45 years or more so I will always root for Sabatini (why he doesn't rate an author entry on this web is beyond me.)

Ninja-pirates! My friend played on in my grade eleven drama class. Ninjas and pirates have the same awards so they should colaborate. And thats my constructive reasoning.
