ok, another request for music recommendations. On another website someone asked for recommendations for music they could listen too while working out - something upbeat to keep up the energy level. I thought this was a good idea. A few of the recommendations were pretty good but the majority wasn't. So now I'm going to appeal to the good folks of litnet......What do you have for me.....

Well, for working out, I like to hear music that I like. If there is a crappy song on, I am unhappy and I flip the station and loaf and then can't get a good workout because I am unhappy with the music (but since I have a nano I can pick what I want, except that I am tired of most of the songs on it now)
I have lots of agressive music on it for the gym and/or track:
* lots of Metallica including Creeping Death, Master of Puppets, Devils Dance, Whiskey in the Jar, Ride the Lightning
* Rob Zombie --- Dragula, Living Dead Girl, Foxy Foxy and a few others from the Educated Horses album
* Ozzy Osbourne
* Twisted Sister (you can laugh at me if you want)
I can also listen to mellow music while working out such as Pink Floyd so I have a lot of that on my nano (but mainly use it for cool down)
And then I have some pop stuff like Madonna (Sorry is a pretty good gym song), and some other songs too embarrassing to name.
But, I really could use some new songs myself and I do listen to newer music and I am not so into it. But it's all the crud they play on the radio stations that have the goofy morning talk show personalities with the playlist of the same stuff over and over every day until the new teen hits comes out.
So, yes, someone else, please help us and tell us what to listen to at the gym!!

Try "gonna fly now", the theme from Rocky. If that won't get you going, nothing will ;)

I do like the aggressive stuff you mentioned.
And you just reminded me - I'm going to add Madonna to my workout playlist.

Lets see when I lost all the wieght (( whichIve since put back:(:() It was becauseof the excersise....at the time I used some of the lowder Aerosmith songs....'Walk this way' for example as its rather long too, and then my sister had a metal song was great but shed never tell me what it was or who it was by ... Ill ask her.
Loud bashy music generally, but also belly dancing music is good if you can belly dance., the older faster ones are the best.:D

I find that if I put my favorite songs on shuffle and just let it randomly pick, I enjoy my work outs better. First, it's my favorite songs, so of course I like them all. And second the shuffle makes it a bit of a surprise and keeps me interested.

For my "exercising" (I most emphatically dislike it) I work out on a dilapidated old exercise bike that barely works and watch a Celtic Woman concert. However, that music is far from aggresive. Makes me smile.:D

I currently do that but I also want a playlist of music that's peppy/danceable that will keep my energy up to continue.
So far I have
Hella Good - No Doubt
Music - Madonna
Free for All - Ted Nugent
Tie Your Mother Down - Queen

Do you have any Stones? They have a lot of rhythmic fast songs that would be good for working out. Brown Sugar, Jumpin' Jack Flash, Miss You, etc. BTW, I love the Rolling Stones. :)

I find '80s songs ideal for workouts... Mostly good rhythm and easy lyrics to keep up with... 'Heart of Glass', 'Don't You Want Me', 'I Want to Break Free'... Need I carry on? ;)

I am so proud of myself. I got up early on a Saturday, ate a nutritious breakfast and then walked 3.25 miles listening to my music (and did some strength stuff sans music). I listened to some Aerosmith (Hole in My Soul and Full Circle) and some Old Crow Medicine Show and some funny eighties music (Jessie's Girl - Rick Springfield) and I feel like I have achieved something. It's better to just get it over with sometimes.

Being that I never exercise, I may not be a good judge of what makes good exercising music :p but here's a few songs that seem like they would work.
Into the Open ~ Heartless Bastards, it starts out a little slow but it builds. I think it's a very uplifting song and that woman has an amazing voice.
Sad and Lonely ~ Secret Machines, it's got a great driving beat. I heard them described as a cross between Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin and while I don't think that's an accurate description of the band generally, it's a perfect description of that song.
Man in the Box ~ Alice in Chains, just a great hard rock, angry song. One of the greatest songs ever written, period. :thumbs_up
Spoonman ~ Soundgarden, you gotta love a song that has a spoons solo. ;)
Sweet, Sweet Baby ~ Lone Justice, they were part of that folk/country/rock thing that was so popular in the mid 80's so it might be a little more country than you like and Maria Mckee really wails which some people can't deal with but I can't listen to that song without getting up and moving.
Volcano Girls ~ Veruca Salt, I don't have much to say about this one but it always makes the kids at work dance...this one and Hang Me Up To Dry by The Cold War Kids, the toddlers love that one. :p

How-D-Do Papaya?
I was only joking about Gid Tanner and the Skillet Lickers for trail running.
A better selection may be: Bob Ensign and the Stump Jumpers.

Right now I am into Nine inch Nails new album. Survivalism , and My violent heart ( with lines like - on hands and knees we crawl, you can not stop us all)goes well with running. Ramones punkrock gives me energy. Blitzkrieg bop and Beat on the brat, keeps me going those extra steps...

Boy does that bring back some uncomfortable memories. We used to mock that Olivia Newton John tune during PT back in Basic. (translation: Physical Training in military basic training course)
The Sergeant would say, “Let’s hear some singing, ladies” and we’d jog along in formation singing:
Let’s get physical – physical
Let me see your BDUs your BDUs…

Hey Papaya,
Ya might have better luck finding Gid Tanner at a garage sale than at Napster, and it’d probably be on a 78.
Gid Tanner and Bob Ensign both had depression era string bands. I think. Their music had its roots in Appalachia and was mostly in the mountain-music bluegrass genre. But hey, it was pre-corporate, pre-music bidness stuff so it defied categorization. It was just a thing that people did… when they did… what they did; and it had an edge to it.
Seems to work for trail running though; and stump jumping and root hopping and rock scrambling and crick splashing and hornet nest stomping and, of course, corn liquor skillet licking. (did I mention that these bands played during prohibition?)
Happy trails
Cascada has some good dance music, if you're looking for that. :)
hey snoopy don't you need something rhythmic. It was only a matter of time before "Lets get physical" reared its ugly head.. What about "Its raining men" instead. It was good enough for Colin Firth and Hugh Grant to try kicking each other to.
