Well, this looks like a good place to begin.

My name is Ygraine, and I'm addicted to literature. I'm 20 years old and English. I'm in my second year of university, reading English language and literature.

My main literary interests are somewhat archaic: Shakespeare and Donne are about as modern as I get, though I will make exceptions. Amongst those exceptions are Jane Austen, Charlotte Bronte, W. B. Yeats, Oscar Wilde, Angela Carter and Jasper Fforde. My first loves though are Chaucer, the Gawain-poet and the Beowulf-poet. On the whole, most things in Anglo-Saxon or Middle English get my vote.

I look forward to some interesting discussions

Hi there, Ygraine !

Be warmly welcome to the forum !

Your literary interests sound intriguing. I'll be taking a course on Old and Middle English next year, and will then most likely turn to you for help ;).

Enjoy your time around here .

Hihi, I'm called crazy when I admit that I'm doing Ancient Greek for fun :D.
I've never had any introduction to Old and Middle English yet, though I did a course on Old German (I'm from Germany :)), which roots in the Germanic language as Old English does. I hope this is going to help me a bit, if not I'll knock on your door .
