I am wondering if you can help me? I am trying to locate a poem by a classic roman author but frustratingly I cannot remember the poets name or the name of the poem. I think it might be by Martial but I am not certain of that.

It is about achieving the perfect life work balance and it includes these themes.

It is better to have a few civic duties that afford you some respect but not so many that you are stressed out.

It is good to have a good marriage. I see to remember the author describes this as having a happy marriage bed.

It is better to have modest food and a warm welcome then fancy food.

I think in total it is around twenty lines. I would be grateful for any ideas or suggestions as to where I might find it.

Wow. Im sorry, but I am unfamiliar with this poem. I draw a blank with the clues. So sorry Rindacarabbit.

It sounds like either Virgil or Horace.
