This is a silly thread. I did a survey at Thanksgiving at school on pumpkin pie and found almost nobody had heard of it let alone tried on it. I was curious to get a more global perspective. Like I said silly thread.

Nobody heard of it!?!?! It must be an American thing. I love pumpkin pie if it's made right. I once had a homemade one that was rather bland. Sometimes it depends on the type of pumpkin you use. I was planning on making one this last Thanksgiving, but I never got around to getting a food processor.

They don't have pumpkin pie in England? You don't know what you are missing. Pumpkin pie with fresh whipped cream, mmmmm.

I actually make pumpkin rolls for thanksgiving. I love them even more than pumpkin pie :)

You mean 'they don't know what their missing' I'm American and Mom makes pumpkin pie, which is absolutely gorgeous.

I heard of it, and I hate it with a passion. It is gross. Pumkins are for halloween and chunkin.:D , not for eating in pie format.

I suppose this is a "cooking class-thread"

:D :D

I never tasted pumpkin pie, since from where I from you don't make cakes from pumpkin (i suppose)..
But if it really taste good like Lara said..then I'm not lucky enough to have the chance to taste it :D

How does it taste? I īm trying to picture it , but I canīt .

Pumpkin pie. What a strange idea.

Rhubarb is good though, and blueberry or wild strawberry.
With custard.

Oh - and pecannutpie - I just adore that word.
Mmm.

I like it, but I like fruit pies better. Blueberry and Apple are my favorites.

How does it taste? Like, sweet, cloying, kinda slimy, there really is not much taste to it, but maybe a slight `nutty' flavour, but you can hardly tell because it's loaded with NUTMEG (which I can't STAND) and cloves and cinnamon, so it just tastes like those spices... blech. And it has egg in it...

Go to a coffee shop and order a Chai Latte. That tastes like liquid pumpkin pie.

doesn't it, though? yum...........!!!

i always have a bit each of pumpkin and (vegetarian) mincemeat pie at thanksgiving. pecan pie was an option when i was little, too. don't know why mom stopped making it.
i've bought jars of (yes, vegetarian) mincemeat filling and eaten it plain, because the idea of making pie was a lie to convince myself to bring it home to a large spoon, but have never eaten pumpkin pie mix alone (gross thought, i know, liquid-y and all) but even cooked, it needs a crust. i can't eat it in pumpkiny bits sans pastry.

Exactly amuse! Who here can tell me they'd pop open a can o' pumpkin and just dig right in? It's because of all the flour, eggs and sugar and spices that mask the taste of the pumpkin, and the texture egads... :p

Well yeah, I said the whole pie, I wouldn't just eat pumpkin or flour:p euch! I don't think I'd eat apple pie mix either.

I don't know how 'your' pumpkin pie tastes, but if it counts, I like zucchini pie :). And I hate zucchinis and pumpkins, but guess they're edible when a pie is made of them :D.
