…What’s this truth?

Wake up in time for the first repeat
Long live, long live, the last good king

Has it ever been questioned?
Has it ever, no never

The following may hurt our eyes
The following may tar my soul

You can never picture another perspective
You will never see in broken light

We can only know what it is we see
Can we then go as far as to say that
This is real?

Can this be real?

Mind grazing auto design
Blasphemic override

Lukin,

I like it. A lot. It makes for good discussion.

Not sure about 'we can only know what it is we see'. In the sense that I assume you use the term 'know', I think you could apply this to any of the other senses. Even when we receive sense impressions, though, it may even be questionable whether we can 'know' them, ie what they really are.

'You can never picture another perspective'. I really like this line. But it does need a word like 'accurately' or 'efficiently' or something like 'truly' (truly is a difficult word, but small enough to slip in), between 'never' and 'picture'. It also has implications for issues like empathy, understanding, learning etc.

I hope I don't sound like I'm criticising you. I really do like the poem. The first stanza is really good. The last changes everything in its compact ideation. It snaps you out of kilter. And whilst some might not like that, I do.

Thanks,
