Question For Fantasy Experts

Hello All. I am looking for a trilogy of fantasy books. I have only ever read the first chapter, in it the main character, who is a person of importance, goes to a forest to investigate some sort of magical vine. He needs to report it to his brother. This is all I know of the book other than that there are dragons and magic in it...... I think. Any help finding these books would be amazing. Thanks guys.
