i need help for this speech

i have to need "Prepare a one minute oral speech asking your boss for a raise" in class.. but i dont know what can i say in my speech? i need help this for speech .. what can i say in my speech? it will be my first speech in class and i want to make good in my first speech..

Try to organize a good argument for receiving the speech. Make an outline and work from it. For example:

Reasons to ask for a raise:

1.) I have worked hard and accomplished many goals. (you might want to make up some goals)

2.) I have completed tasks in a more than timely fashion, getting assignments in well before due date. (work can sometimes be like school that way)

3.) Why I am an asset to this firm.

a.) help training new employees
b.) creative ideas for projects
c.) finding ways to improve productivity and cut costs.

You would need to present a convincing yet brief argument about why you would deserve a raise and your teacher won't want you to say "I deserve a raise because I am so good and need the money anyway". ;)

*edit* as you say this is your first speech, you will want to write down your thoughts on index cards. Make eye contact with people in class, don't stare at your notes or the teacher. The whole point of a speech is to communicate with people, and you will want to engage them with what you are saying. Remember, most people get nervous so try to relax. I was so nervous once giving a speech my voice was a squeak. You will want to avoid that at all costs...:lol:

One trick I use when speaking in front of a group I tend to look at the top of heads of people. This gives the appearance of me looking AT my audience and I aviod the trap of being distracted by facial expressions of the audience and losing my train of thought. The speeches I had to give were usually information sharing and did not depend on give and take from speaker to listeners. Good luck. Kathycf did an excellent job with her suggestions.

One thought on the raising issue might be that you hope that you have worked so well with the company that a raise would be a sign of their investment in YOU as a valued employee that they would hate to lose as you hope you have a future with the company. Hope this helps.
