What I basically need to do is find characteristics of Napoleon and find examples to support my assertion of those characteristics. Problem is I can't remember a lot of the examples :( . (I'm looking for 3 to 4 for each characteristic - other characteristics are welcome as long as they have relevant examples)
Character Traits
Aggressive:
1. Uses the dogs to attack Snowball in order to assume the leadership of the farm
2. Kills animals who “own up” to their crimes instead of giving them a warning.
3.
Exploitive
1. Makes animals work harder than the pigs – i.e. unfair working hours
2. The rations are not shared equally. The pigs and dogs, who do the least work get the most food while the rest of the animals have to squabble over tiny pieces of food
3. Does not care about the welfare of animals under his command. For example, Boxer, who is clearly dying, is sent off to the slaughterhouse to be killed.
4.
Paranoia
1. He uses the dogs as guards for his room. This tells us that he feels insecure about his own safety.
2. He uses a pig to taste his food before he eats it, as he is scared that someone has poisoned his food.
Manipulative
1. Napoleon announces that all animals would have to work voluntary on Sunday afternoons, but any animal who absented himself from it would have his ration reduced by half. That is not a choice – with food rations being as low as they were.
2. Napoleon changes the original Seven Commandments to legitimize what he does – drink alcohol, sleep in beds, dealing with humans etc. His attempt to hide the illegality of these moves by literally changing the wording of the commandments is symbolic of a tyrant's disregard for truth and ethical considerations.
